About this listen

'SUPERB' WILL DEAN
'Highly entertaining' THE TIMES
'Subtle, compelling storytelling at its elegant best' DAILY MAIL

Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in the small village of Three Pines in Quebec. Someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. When he finally answers the call, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

That's only the first in a sequence of strange events that begin THE GREY WOLF. At first they seem small - a missing coat, a note for Gamache reading "this might interest you", a puzzling scrap of paper with a mysterious list - but then a murder. All propel Chief Inspector Gamache and his team toward a terrible realization. Something much more sinister than any one murder or any one case is fast approaching. A threat unlike anything they've seen before.

The monkey business is highly entertaining and leads to a climax that would not be out of place in a James Bond movie

This is the most exciting and thrilling of all the Inspector Gamache books. I love the complex characters who are a mix of good and evil and very human. I would recommend reading them in order as things are explained and developed through the series. The description of Canada and Three Pines is wonderful and the culture they all want to protect.

Perfect story, even better narration! I could listen to Adam’ Sims all day long.
After such a long wait, it was worth it. The story was gripping with a slow build up but I love the fact that she has set up for another.
At one point I was scared it was the end of three pines and the bistro. Thankfully it continues.
Can’t wait for the next one now. I might start them all again!
