About this listen

Can wacky Christmas jumpers really mend a broken heart? For fans of Jenny Colgan and anyone looking to replace their #GBBO fix.

Heartbroken after being jilted at the altar, Sybil has been saved from despair by her knitting obsession and now her home is filled to bursting with tea cosies, bobble hats, and jumpers. But, after discovering that she may have perpetrated the cock-up of the century at work, Sybil decides to make a hasty exit and, just weeks before Christmas, runs away to the picturesque village of Tindledale.

There, Sybil discovers Hettie’s House of Haberdashery, an emporium dedicated to the world of knitting and needle craft. But Hettie, the outspoken octogenarian owner, is struggling and now the shop is due for closure. And when Hettie decides that Sybil’s wonderfully wacky Christmas jumpers are just the thing to add a bit of excitement to her window display, something miraculous starts to happen…

Just the job for s Christmas story - cosy happy endings on the cards from the first sentence, but enough fun and intrigue during the story to keep it interesting, and some lovely characters and passages - particularly the bits where the lovely Laurence and ruby give our heroine a makeover. Thought the reader was great too - she sounded just like you'd expect Cybs to sound.

A lovely festive comfort blanket of a listen

The characters become real and you feel as one of the villagers routing for all to be well.

Story follows Sib through a journey to get over betrayal by her fiancé and twin sister. She loves knitting and dreams of owning a shop selling wools and crafts. She has problems at work and leaves a message at work stating she's ill and dashes off to stay with her best friend who runs a pub with her partner in Tinderdale.

This story follows the villagers and in particular Sibs. Light hearted and at times laugh aloud.
