There is not enough distinction between this book and The Betrayals. The characters have many similarities which I found irritating although the storyline is different. I think The Betrayals is the better of the two in my opinion.

I love the part in this book near the beginning where the mother is describing how her daughter is the child who has left the least trace around the house and made the least fuss when growing up. And then everything changes.

If this book had been more distinct from the other (i.e. without another father also involved in academic behaviour-ralted research, without another woman interested in alternative therapy) I'd have liked it much more.

found this quite boring, a bit rambling and repetitive in parts the three quarters of the way into it the story came together. not a book I can say I really enjoyed or that I'd ever read again. it did show up the dangers of teen lives in our digital age.

strange lives

I bought this book because the author’s other book, Betrayals , was really good.
But this one is awful! The plot evolves around two teenagers and the issue they have is ridiculous. On top of that, the characters are very similar to the other book- brain researchers, alternative therapy enthusiasts, and a career person. The main teenage character is doing various science A levels and is portrayed basically as a medic.
Absolutely ridiculous. I returned this book.
