Loved the book, but the narrator was entirely inappropriate

This is a wonderful story, but the narrator was maddening. The accents for the different characters were terrible and she miss pronounced many words.
For non Americans the accent can sometimes feel very inappropriate and pretty irritating. I finished it cos the story and writing were great. Now I’m wondering whether I can cope with the same narrator for the second book which I really want to listen to.
I enjoy mystery books which pass between 2 different centuries. There was lots about the natural world in this one , and being an artist myself I loved the theme and the treasures found beneath layers of paint.
