I cannot help but sympathise with the author’s bitterness towards what is certainly thee biggest contemporary threat to there great American experiment- Christian nationalism.

However, I think the author’s forays into theology and biblical exegesis may undermine his key thesis (which is absolutely correct), given the many religious Christians who will disagree with his textual explanations.

Nevertheless, this is an excellent take down of the modern, fanatical myth that America is a Christian nation- it is not and wouldn’t exist without rebellion against orthodoxy.

One can only hope that the Trump presidency has finally removed from all thinking people any sentiment towards American Evangelicalism.
