About this listen

Who are the finders?

The average person lives with an experience of the world that is rooted in fear, worry, and anxiety. The most common way this manifests is in a persistent sense of discontentment. Something just doesn’t feel quite right.

That something is usually hard to put a finger on. It’s often just a feeling that haunts us in the background, one that leads to endless soul-searching and goal-striving. Although it can disappear when a desire is achieved or a piece of our life that was believed to be missing falls into place, ultimately, the relief is only temporary. Before long, the background feeling that something is not okay returns, and the search begins anew.

You may be surprised to learn that life doesn’t have to be this way. Since 2006, our global scientific research project has been on the trail of the tiny fraction of the population that seems to have escaped this fate. We found thousands of them, and what we learned has been nothing short of astonishing. It will revolutionize your life for the better if you’ll let it.

And to think my first diary I ever wrote was titled "Looking for the "feel good"" lol.. I am a psychologist and a seeker, so this blew my mind.

Ha!

if you are a seeker, then follow the author's course.
if you are a finder, then this book is just what settles it.

Heaven, for integration it has helped enormously

This book is very inspiring, it provides a refreshing and thorough map of higher or "alternative" states of consciousness.

If you are experiencing states that are outside the norm, or if you are interested in other ways to experience your life, this book is for you.

Recommended

A clear account of higher states of consciousness

By the time i reached chap 13, that strange feeling emerges that this guy is actually saying very little. Lots of vague terms, applied upon other vague terms and words. But nothing (or rather, very little that is) actually concrete. It is skillfully written, but in the end fails.

Lots of flowery words, little substance

Spiritual awakenings are becoming more and more common the author asserts. And soon you’ll be able to turn on the parts you want off a menu with ultrasound. The author has little comprehension of the spectrum of consciousness that has been mapped for centuries. In these traditions less is said about the map, and more communicated about the practices and disciplines of the path. That’s the place to look, not these superficial vicarious and vague descriptions gleaned from those who claim freedom. Maybe the book will help give confidence that such a place exists, and in that respect I hope it proves useful as an enticer for some.

Vague and shallow, and surprise surprise some upselling at the end.
