About this listen

The first in the multi-author, post-apocalyptic blockbuster series

Cal's "honeymoon" didn't start off quite how he'd planned. For starters, he was heading somewhere he didn't actually want to go. And secondly, he was going alone and unmarried. He had no idea that his first visit to New York City would also land him in the middle of a domestic terror attack, forcing him to flee Manhattan in a desperate bid to survive.

This was no ordinary terror attack.

The Movement, in a misguided attempt to seize political control of the USA, unwittingly invited the destruction of their homeland, and as the bombs start to fall, the shock and loss of life reverberates around the world.

Cal, along with a small group he met in NYC, desperately flees inland away from the targeted coastal cities, but chaos follows them around every corner.

I'm pretty new to Devon C Ford, having read the After It Happened Series. I haven't tried his sci-fi stuff yet.

The Fall is an absolute corker. It builds up well from a running start. It leaves you guessing at where the plot lines are heading even before the narrator lets you know.

Equal amounts of mysterious behaviour and terrorism is more than enough to keep the reader guessing and I certainly found that I didn't want to stop listening.

I'm new to this narrator but he does perfectly with this story, fitting just right. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to fans of techno-thrillers, Prepper fiction and the like.

An absolute cracker

first thing I have to say, it's the home counties, not home countries. secondly, Cal is a former Royal Marine, why is he written as an absolute fanny when he's been part of one of the most elite military regiments in the world?

fine, perfectly listenable but nothing special

The only bugs for me was the feeble attempt at a British accent and a reference to the “home countries” rather than “Home Counties” but that’s down to me being English.

Given what’s happening in the world in 2023, the story could well be a possible outcome given all the sabre rattling on the international front and some very poor quality politicians (in both the US and UK).

Great plot, good characters

What a great book, well read and really engaging, one of the best books I’ve listened to 👍

Exciting and well written

I like the author's work (author of the "After It Happened" series, as welll as others), and like his previous books he doesn't disappoint. Well witten and constructed, well paced and well researched. The narration is some of the best I have heard. Will be looking out for the next in the series. Recommended...
