After having quit a year ago and relapsing after 6 months, I decided to give "escaping" another go. After a couple of failed attempts again I thought I couldn't do it. This book made me realise exactly why I had found it easy the first time, and a few days in to this after listening to this and Im finding it a breeze. Absolutely recommended. I have no need to ever smoke again.

I wasn't a fan of the writing and narration style and could tell it had been written quite some time ago. However, I listened through as I didn't need to like him to understand the message.

It worked. 25 years of smoking and I stopped without ceremony and have not experienced any of the withdrawal, mood swings, cravings all smokers are all told to expect.

Not long after I listened to this, I couldn’t believe how much I didn’t want to smoke. It’s a gift to the world. It’s completely different to any other method out there. Allen Carr’s method is part CBT, but mostly talking in plain common-sense and you are in control of changing your own thought process without any gimmicks. I completely understand why it has a 90% success rate. The best psychological method I have come across for quitting smoking, and to be designed by a normal guy who was smoking up to 100 per day makes it even more special. Doctors use this method, with most of his clientele coming from medical professions.

Have now used the method to stop drinking caffeine (6 weeks) and just finished his Good Sugar, Bad Sugar. It’s funny, when people say to me “you’ve got amazing will power”, I have to say that Will Power has nothing to do with it. This book makes you more conscientious and conscious of your addiction/ habit and understand why you do what you do, and what to do about it in practical terms.

If you are in 2 minds, it’s well worth the investment. I listened to it twice because my mind tends to wander. Listen to it without letting your mind wandering, take notes if that helps. But one thing you do need to do: listen from the start, no jumping to other chapters until you’ve finished the book and process in order. Good Luck! You’re going to achieve your goal with this book.
