Summary

For a duchess with practical desires, falling in love is an inconceivable part of her plan....

As owner of the Elysium Club which caters to women’s fantasies, Aiden Trewlove is accustomed to introducing adventurous ladies to sin and vice. But he is uncharacteristically intrigued by the mysterious beauty who visits his club one night, yearning to indulge in the forbidden - with him. Drawn to her indomitable spirit, he breaks his rule of never becoming personally involved with his clientele and is determined to fully awaken her desires.

A recent widow, Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lushing, has never known passion, not until Aiden’s slow, sensual seduction leads her on a journey of discovery and incredible pleasure. But her reasons for visiting the notorious club are not all that they seem.

As Selena’s motives become complicated by love, she finds herself with a most unexpected choice: forge ahead with a secret plan that could secure her future - or follow her heart which could prove ruinous.

I didn't want it to end!

Just when I think that this series has met its emotional depth or that I've met my favorite Trewlove sibling, Lorraine Heath manages to knock me on my butt in wonder and awe. Aiden and Selena's story kept me immersed from beginning to end and wanting more (in the best way possible). Their mutual devotion to their families, their strong (and well developed) personalities, and the palpable chemistry that morphed into something much more are all ingredients to a gripping book that stayed with me long after I finished. I also really loved the connection (and cameos) from the Scoundrel's of St. James series - it makes me hope that perhaps we'll see another spinoff after we get the last two Trewlove siblings' tales. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Not the best of series

This series is great...sadly this book is just good. Almost seems author was in a rush to make this book happen and just didn't give it the attention she gave the other books in the series.

Still worth it...because its got most of our favorite past characters...and the series can handle one only good book.

Love 💗 this series

I was hoping for a different outcome but the outcome of this book was nice.

I own this series and all others Lorraine Heath wrote. I’ve enjoyed them all.

I already reserved the final book to this series - story of the last Truelove, Fannie. I look forward to it.

Clever Headline

Through the endless dialogue of this book, I kept trying to figure out how this couple would make their relationship acceptable to the ton. There’s plenty of time to come up with hypotheses as you are listening to the narrator state the same thoughts over and over again in a myriad of manners. With about three hours of the book left, I was tempting to fast forward to the back of the book to figure out what happens. If there is another book in this series, I’m probably not going to listen to it because I’m tired of this particular trope for now.
What I do get out of these books is a sense of what life may have been like all these years ago. Fellow woman, we have come along way and yet I know out there, there are women who still struggle due to circumstances. There is more work to be done.

Disappointing

I have been a fan of Lorraine Heath and own several of her audiobooks. Very happy with the sims for all seasons previous books, but this one just doesn’t live up to those. Hero and heroine were too cardboard, falling in love right off. Wouldn’t spend the credit.

Love Lorraine Heath, but very disappointed

I really love this series, But was very disappointed with this story. This family has its interactions with nobility, But ultimately, they hold to the values of love and kindness.Aiden veered and Did not really return to what I so love about this family. It is difficult to review this without giving anything away. And all in all, I will still purchase and read the next in the series.

Brillant, Aiden rises to the ranks of Jack Dodger

Absolutely loved it. the Truelove siblings get better stories each time. Ms Heath has penned a phenomenon classic story. and Kate Reading breathes in life to the characters with her superb narration. read listen, it's worth it.

Stupid..insta love

I really hate a novel where the hero "falls" for the heroine in 5 minutes...and this one is exactly that. There is no reason that the hero wants to protect and stay with the heroine until they " are wrinkly and gray" ( that is in the second chapter). They have very little interaction, except that she wants to bed him ( I guess that could be a reason for long lasting devotion, but I doubt it). 20 minutes in and I give up. When things start this easy, there does not seem to be anywhere to go. I know that there is always a HEA. When that is the end , then the journey has to be interesting. The first chapter the hero is already thinking ever-after, then nothing comes as a surprise.
I'll keep going, as it's in my library, but only the narrator makes this anything less than a waste of time. It's playing now like background music, but I have very little interest. the author is one of my automatic buys, but this one is not up to her quality. Oh no, I can hear some contrived banter that is falling flat, maybe even as background music, this is not up to the task!!
not worth the credit or time. I will continue and possibly edit if there is an improvement, but I sense the beginning is as good as it will get.
