Summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Private investigator Wyatt West finds his job a little tedious most days, but that changes when he meets a bewitching blonde florist who needs a favor in the way of a wedding date. There's definitely something magical about her, but little does he know just how correct that first impression is.

Single mom Marigold Williams finds herself instantly attracted to Wyatt but doesn't dare tell this handsome human that she's a witch and things in Nocturne Falls are a little spookier than he suspects. He’s just a nice guy who’s offered to be her plus one. She doesn’t need to turn his world upside down with the truth over one date.

Despite that agreement, their feelings deepen, and both agree to try a relationship beyond their current temporary arrangement. Now Marigold must tell him about her witchy side. After all, he has a right to know whom he’s dating.

But when Wyatt unwittingly frees some dangerous magic, Marigold knows a life-changing sacrifice is the only way to set things right. Will her magic save him? And will he be able to handle the truth that comes with it?

Another great Nocturne Falls Book

Man.... this book was to short! I’m already waiting for the next one! If you’re like me and love these books you might also want to try The Ghost-in-Law and Miss Fortune Mysteries by Jana Deleon. They have the same funness to them.

Most disappointing

I have listened to all the Nocturne Falls books, and this was the worst. Had little substance and was so predictable.

I continue to love these books

I was hooked on the series from book 1. And I have continued to read every other book after that. Every book is great and they do not disappoint. some of us may have differing opinions on how the characters are voiced or how they are portrayed but there is no denying that these books are amazing and very very entertaining.

Cute! Light heated romance

I always enjoy stories written by Kristen Painter and especially her Nocturne series. I found the “Detective wins the Witch” a light hearted, enjoyable read!
My only criticism is the narrators mis-pronunciation of the word “peony”! Grrrr...how can anybody mis-pronounce “peony”?! The narrator deserves a rating better than a two! Otherwise he was very good.

So cute!

I’m so glad I came across this series! Every story is so perfect and leaves you with a happy smile on your face! I like that the characters are further along in their lives and have lived real life experiences but are still open to finding love and happiness!

Something witchy this way comes

Maybe one of the best Nocturn Falls romantic mysteries yet, though I think I’ve already made that declaration. Fun and full of sweet witchiness, which I just love the witch stories, but Marigold’s is special. Why? Because she’s a GREEN witch, which just means she works with plants, but dang I felt a kinship to her. All witches are elemental, whether real or not people too have affinities, some people are more connected to the earth and plants while some are more connected to air (weather), Fire (passion and power) and water (not quite sure) either way I’m an earthy person even though I don’t really have a green thumb like Marigold, I’m connected to Mother Nature, just not in a witchy way. I loved Pandora’s story as well, but I felt more connected to Marigold as a character. I’m hoping that Painter also tells Charisma’s story as I think she will be kind of awesome. For now I’m on to the next Painter book in my library.

Witchy Single Mom and P.I. Human Cast a Spell

We now get a story from another of the three Williams sisters Marigold, a green witch and florist. Pandora real estate agent got her own story in The Professor Woos the Witch, and her mother Corette who had her own side story in The Witch's Halloween Hero. Charisma is the third sister but she has not yet had a story of her own. This story was a great deal of fun with lots of magic along the way. Very predictable as always and a few moments where you want to say come on main characters how did you not see that coming but not to the point of annoyance. The romance is light and flirty with nothing getting dirty, and the humor and banter is sweet. B.J. Harrison continues to do a wonderful job with the series and the story keeps at the same level of satisfaction as readers of the series can expect. The male interest a human Private Investigator Wyatt West was a fun addition to the world and plays nicely off of Marigold. I enjoyed the different magic being used and getting to see more of the very powerful town witch Alice in this episode. Another story in the series fans are sure to enjoy.
