About this listen

Escape to the seaside village of Little Pondale with parts one and two of this heartwarming and romantic four-part serial.

Mia Ward is amazed to learn she has inherited her great-aunt Matilda’s thatched cottage in the tiny seaside village of Little Pondale - especially as Mia didn’t know she had a great-aunt. She’s even more astonished to discover she’ll inherit the place only if she actually lives there for one year.

Mia’s a city girl at heart, not to mention she’s afraid of water, so the fact the cottage backs onto a sandy beach is not a bonus. When her best friend, Ella, and Ella’s brother, Garrick, offer to help her move and settle in, Mia decides to see this as a new beginning.

It may also be the start of an exciting adventure because now Mia wants to know just who, exactly, was Great-Aunt Matilda. But it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to make sure Mia doesn’t stay in Little Pondale.

Really enjoyed this book and luckily there’s a further book in the series. It’s a lovely concept of having someone leave you a cottage but it has plenty of mystery throughout. You see your feelings change towards the characters as time passes which I always like.

Narrator is brilliant. Sometimes the main character can be a bit infuriating but it’s because you can feel her denial

Read this don’t think you’ll be sorry

This had the potential to be a cracking story however it tried to intertwine two different stories into one, and it didn’t succeed.

It was neither a romantic story nor a mystery which is a shame.

There wasn’t enough attention given to Matilda’s story it was very weak and left me feeling disappointed 😞

The narrator’s voice didn’t help, it sounded so childish, it was quite annoying to be honest.

Much too long for a story too short

Really didn't like the awful Ella character and the overuse of the expression Bloody Nora. Good story though. Will listen to the next one as they are free.

A bit silly
