About this listen

Continuing the new look unabridged Poirot titles, read by Hugh Fraser.

As instructed, stenographer Sheila Webb let herself into the house at 19 Wilbraham Crescent. It was then that she made a grisly discovery: the body of a dead man sprawled across the living room floor.

What intrigued Poirot about the case was the time factor. Although in a state of shock, Sheila clearly remembered having heard a cuckoo clock strike three o’clock. Yet, the four other clocks in the living room all showed the time as 4.13. Even more strangely, only one of these clocks belonged to the owner of the house…

Loved the narration. Not one of my favourite Agatha Christie books, but after hearing, I'm going to read it again!

What's not to love about this audiobook?
It's a wonderful story - keeps you guessing all the way through - of course it does, that's what Agatha Christie does best.
It's very much of its time, and I love that. The narration is perfect for that, and the whole things makes a charming listen.

Perfect Christie!

This is a fabulous story from our wonderful Agatha. I love the way she writes, she paints a wonderful picture of a setting and the characters. She is one of the greatest for mystery. This story is a bit different from her usual Poirot stories, but equally as fab. Hugh Fraser reads the story for him and we all love him, he reads so well, he has a lovely voice, I always look for his narration for Agatha’s Poirot stories. Top marks on all counts.

Great story and narration

I liked the fact that this story centred on one crescent (road) in England with a small cast of suspects. Although Poirot played only a small (but key) role in the book, it was an ingenious plot and lent itself well to the audio book form. Excellent in every way; Hugh Fraser's narration was first class.
