Summary

Featured title on PBS's The Great American Read in 2018

In this classic American adventure, Jack London explores the laws of civilization and wilderness - and the pull of instinct - through the eyes of Buck, a half Saint Bernard, half Scottish shepherd. London drew on his own experiences as a prospector in the Canadian wilderness, as well as the philosophies of Charles Darwin and Friedrich Nietzsche, for this enduring tale of survival.

Fantastic classic with great narration!

A truly great classic, brought to life by a skilled narrator! could not stop listening and finished it in just a few hours longer than the length of the book. (I was so rudely interrupted by my doctors appointment).

Wonderful writing and narration

This is the story of a wonderful dog who was passed from hand to hand. It is heart wrenching to listen to the cruelty of man, yet the spirit of this brave dog overcame every challenge.

Classic

I am 73, and have not read this in more than sixty years. it is still the classic story. The story from a dog's version......feelings, caring, protection, and desires, makes one adhere to the dog and his adventures. Loved it, again!

The call of the wild

This book is very good. I have read other versions and loved those too! Men Being abusive to the animals in this book breaks my heart, but it inspires me to help as many animals as I possibly can.

GREAT!!

This title is so well known, a household name even, and I think I probably have read it before many years ago, but am not even sure(!) because none of it sounds familiar! I’ve had it in my Kindle Unlimited Library for awhile and, for some reason, have been hesitant to listen to it. Because I guess I didn’t realize what an enormously terrific book it truly is. Wow! Great narrator too, by the way. I simply enjoyed everything about this relatively short but very powerful and captivating story.

So glad I read this!

A story through the eyes of a dog that becomes in tune with his inner wild calling. It describes heartache, pain, love, courage and finding and becoming your true self. I cried many times during this story. If you are a dog lover than this is a must read!!!
