Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

This audiobook in The Thursday Murder Club series is read by a new narrator, Fiona Shaw.

A new mystery is afoot in the third book in the Thursday Murder Club series from record-breaking, bestselling author Richard Osman.

This audiobook includes an exclusive interview between Richard Osman and journalist and TV presenter Steph McGovern.

It is an ordinary Thursday, and things should finally be returning to normal.

Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club are concerned. A local news legend is on the hunt for a sensational headline, and soon the gang are hot on the trail of two murders, ten years apart.

To make matters worse, a new nemesis pays Elizabeth a visit, presenting her with a deadly mission: kill or be killed...

While Elizabeth grapples with her conscience (and a gun), the gang and their unlikely new friends (including TV stars, money launderers and ex-KGB colonels) unravel a new mystery. But can they catch the culprit and save Elizabeth before the murderer strikes again?

IGNORE THEM

For goodness sake some people just love to complain. The book is fantastic, there is nothing wrong with the narration. Now you know its a different narrator lets not leave more negative reviews. Maybe get the book instead 🤔

Where is Lesley?

You can’t change narrator in the middle of a series - listening is not the same - Ruined!

Where are Arif, Joyce, Ron and Elizabeth ?!!

I have been waiting months to listen to this book but I am so disappointed, Lesley Manville was Arif, Joyce, Ron and Elizabeth and no one but no one can voice them but her, I’m not sure I can listen to more than a couple of chapters and am considering sending this back, please please re-record it with Lesley, anyone who has listened to the first two books will say the same thing.
Absolutely gutted 😔

Fiona Shaw is fabulous

Have not finished the book as it only came out yesterday, however Fiona Shaw does a fantastic job as narrator. If people find her sensitive interpretation of the characters so off putting then perhaps they should read the book. That way they they can have the original narrator’s voices in their heads as they read.

If I could give no stars I would

I couldn't get further than the first few minutes of this. You absolutely cannot get readers invested in characters as voiced by Leslie Manville and then switch to a different narrator who is with respect, no where near as skilled. I will be returning this. So disappointed as I have been eagerly awaiting this third instalment.

Not Lesley?

Bad decision not to wait until Lesley was available to narrate.
I cannot take to the characters new voices, it really distracts me from the story.
It feels as if the 'friends' previously made have gone, to be replaced by poor imitations.
Big disappointment and a real shame as I was really looking forward to this.

No Leslie!!!

This is not what I signed up for, how can you change the narrator!! Leslie made the story come alive with soft tones and wonderful story telling.
I am done with you Mr Osman

Alright we get it people don't like change...

It's great. All the naysayers are just moaning as they don't like change. Fiona is a great actress and by the time you're a few chapters in you'll forget the change. Listen to the story and for goodness sakes until you've published 3 books and had them recorded as audio books just stfu being so negative.

Finding it hard to listen to!

Edit. I had to stop listening and listened to 3 different audio books, so that I could try to forget how wonderfully Lesley Manville narrated the first two. However, I am still really struggling. It isn't just that the characters sound different or that names are pronounced differently, but I really do not like the style of narration. Fiona Shaw has a breathy/reflective style of delivery, especially when not being a character. She also does this when narrating Joyce's diary entries. It all feels so wrong and I struggle to hold concentration. This was never a problem with the first two books. ........ my original thoughts/review follows ........ I was really worried when I heard that Lesley Manville wasn't narrating (despite her telling Richard O that 'you can always make time to do an audio book'). Fiona Shaw doesn't even pronounce Donna's surname properly!!! Lesley Manville was just SO perfect and I am just not enjoying this narration. If I hadn't heard the 1st two book, I may have found this OK, but it just hasn't got the same feel or subtly. I am not far into the story, but I am genuinely finding it hard to listen to, and I haven't smiled once! So disappointed.

Loved it. Just wish I'd not finished it in one day

A new reader was a little disconcerting for the first half hour. Now I can't remember the old one and can't imagine anyone other than Fiona Shaw. Loved this 3rd book, devoured it in one sitting and now feel bereft having to wait an eternity for the next one.
