Summary

Lincoln Rhyme's cousin has been arrested for murder. The evidence clearly shows he did it, but Rhyme agrees to check things out. It turns out that the cousin, along with other people, has been wrongly convicted because the true killer knows every single detail about the lives of the victims he kills and the men he sets up to take the fall for those crimes.

Rhyme, Sachs and the rest of the team have to find out who at the huge, ominous data mining company is getting access to this information. Meanwhile the villain realises he's being pursued and turns his knowledge of data and information into a weapon...

perfect reading of this book

the narrator keeps you listening even when you want a cup of tea or wee, and the speed of his narrating the parts where you are carried along at a pace you can feel the tension and excitement in his voice, it really adds to the pleasure of listening to this audio book and typical Deaver twist and final solving are brilliant. A great listen

Solid Deaver Info Thriller

This is what Jeffery Deaver does well - a pacy, twisty thriller with a lot of pretty geeky info about current issues - in this one it's identity theft and a sociopath pitched against his damaged heroes. Not as smooth as the Bone Collector, but if you like his work, it's a good one.

digital crime

An interesting voyage into a world of identity theft with a dark and violent plot. Kept me gripped throughout! I really enjoyed this book - a twisting intriguing plot.

Love the combination of writer & narrator

I deliberately sought out a Deaver novel narrated by George Guidall. Having listened to the Cold Moon, I was keen to repeat the experience of the perfect voice for the story. And I found it. Loved it.

Another good story.

Enjoyed the experience of listening to a story rather than reading it and the reader is a brilliant story teller. Apart from that I was not disappointed with her another very good Lincoln Rhyme mystery.

Brilliant

I read this book. I scared me just how likely this could be! I never ever read a book twice, as after the st page, I am able to recall all of the story. BUT this is audio, and though I could recall the story - the skill of the reader, with the character voice was compelling. Rymes was excellent, just sort of what I held in my own head. I'd like to hear further stories with the same main characters. Good listening!

Keeps you guessing till the end!

Where does The Broken Window rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It had been a few years since I read the last JD novel in the Rhyme series and I'm glad I've started to listen again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Broken Window?

Finding out about what potentially the data miners know about us!!!

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He clearly differentiate between the characters and his accents were pretty good.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Tedious, boring, uninteresting sums this up

I tried, I really did but this is THE most tedious tale to listen to. Perhaps it would be better read. I am not sure how much to blame the narration or just the fact that this book doesn’t flow at all well. It doesn’t help that the criminal’s victims are described as 6 numbers instead of by their name, making it difficult to follow at times. Generally, I would give this a miss. There are much better books available from Audible

Great story

One of my favourite stories so far .
The narrator is one of the most suited for the books.
Loved the British accent.
Thanks
