Once upon a time, in a land blighted by terror, there was a very clever boy.

The people thought the boy could save them, so they opened their gates and sent him out into the world.

To where the monsters lived.

In The Boy on the Bridge, M. R. Carey returns to the world of his phenomenal word-of-mouth best seller, The Girl With All the Gifts, for the very first time.

A great prequel to The Girl With All The Gifts. Definitely worth a listen and the epilogue is worth the price of admission alone.

The prefect follow up

The story is great, and ties in with the first beautifully. It answers questions you didn't know you had about the first story.

The voice performance is also top notch.

Even better than the first.

Bit of a slow burn to begin with.

Whilst the story and concept is good its not quite as engaging at the Girl with all the gifts I think the author pulled out all the tricks in that book. I suppose the first book had more of a surprise factor too and you felt truly engaged with the characters and the out come.

Its nice that it joins up the stories a little bit but its didn't quite have the same "Wow" factor for me. But don't be put off its a good book, I just think the TGWATG was exceptional so this couldn't be compared in quite the same way.

Good but not quite as good as TGWATG's

Listened to this novel straight after Girl with All The Gifts and throughly enjoyed the evolving story and learning more about the significance of Rosie. Great narration and characterization.

Well Structured and Exciting

A wonderful follow up, that in my opinion, is on par with the first book, if not surpasses it. A thoroughly enjoyable listen. Brilliant.
