I couldn't stop listening to this book. Brilliantly drawn characters, wonderful descriptions of life London and Sussex at that time. The writing is fresh and intense and the idea of the plot centred around the manufacture of fireworks so original I could easily imagine scenes from a film, I hope the book will be adapted for the big screen soon.

Must be made into a film!

I was a little worried that I wouldn't understand the language of the era, never having read something set in 1750's, however Annie's narrating drew me in and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story. I also learnt quite a lot in the process. Fabulous listen. Sad its finished.

I struggled to get through this book. Annie's narration was the best bit she brought the description to life, but story content was poor
