When Esmond, his cousin and childhood confidant, comes to live with him, Thomas is overjoyed - Esmond always looks after him. But is Esmond all that he seems? And why is he so concerned that Alice wants to come home too? Darling Alice, whom neither have seen since that fateful night 26 year ago ...
©1993 Andrew Taylor (P)2014 Audible, Inc.Would you listen to The Barred Window again? Why?
I would listen again as it would allow me to hear what I maybe missed before. The sags certainly does not run riot with your thoughts, but it allows you to become closer to those few characters who inhabit the stage. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were several moments in the book that moved me. I became close to them all, even Esmond who, in the book parlance, was a cad.Any additional comments?
Mainly, I felt the engineering of the book to be a let down. All the way through, the narrator can only act his part and effect what the script says to him and allowing him to give us the air of realism, albeit in a book. The fading of the book got to me and almost put me off. I do not blame the narrator. SOUND ENGINEERING!The fading.
