About this listen

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men's locker room. It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster. The famed quarterback decided to bare all. And by all, I don't mean he told me any of his secrets. No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel just as I asked the first question. On camera.

The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby: screwing with me. When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me to wanting to screw me. But I don't date players. And it's not because I'm one of the few women working in the world of professional football. I'd date an athlete. It's the other kind of player I don't date. You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player. Every woman wanted to be the one to change him. But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for. Turned out I was that girl. Simple, right? Let's face it. It never is.

There's a story between once upon a time and happily ever after...and this one is ours.

Contains mature themes.

It's been a few years since I read this novel and I really enjoyed listening to it as a re-read. I thought that the female narrator was fabulous. While I enjoyed the male narrator, I felt his voice didn't quite fit my idea of Brody. Nonetheless, the story was fab and overall delivery was great.

Loved it

Regular readers of/listeners to the authors other work might have a different opinion here but, in my view (and having listened to a number now), these are old-fashioned love stories in different settings. They're plausible enough; easy to listen to; there are the obligatory hurdles to overcome; "hot" scenes are very mild and they reach the obligatory HEA. Nothing controversial; nothing to really set the heart racing (whether in terms of threat or sweat), in fact not a lot going on (NALGO) apart from when will the inevitable denoument happen.

That's not to say that it's not worth listening to - it is a freebie and, if you're at a loss for a couple of days and need an easy listening experience (redecorating the guest room perhaps), this is one you don't need to pay too much attention to. The narration isn't bad, though the female narrator could have carried the lot off on her own. The editing, as is usual for the publisher of this audio, has a number of flaws, chief amongst them in this case is some very dodgy editing of the female voice, making the poor woman sound like an AI voice at times. That one brassed me off even more than the usual cutting words off short at the end of chapters.

Overall, reasonable but not one I'll be keeping, much less buying.

Reasonable audiobook but formulaic
