When Danny’s mother is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, he finds himself in a race against time to fulfil her wish for him… to find a soul mate.
Danny’s quest for love soon steers him into unfamiliar territory, and before long he’s introduced to a powerful new addiction: Online dating.
But has he taken a wrong turn? Because neither serial dater Harry, nor fetish scene enthusiast Ben, seem like the type one brings home to mother, and time is quickly running out.
Will Danny find the love of his life, or is his chance of meeting the perfect man slipping away one date at a time?
The App Trap is a bittersweet journey into the world of the London dating circuit. You will laugh, you will cry, and you may never swipe again.

It's great to see new names and people trying themselves in new roles, but I'll stick to Dan as a narrator for now.
Narration: Good job on the audio front, but that's not a surprise.

The narration was very good and suited both the funny and serious parts perfectly.
I received a free copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Interesting take on online dating

The App Trap is perfectly titles as we follow our hero, Danny who wants to find love, which is made all the more urgent after receiving some bad news from his mum about her health. I will say, she is the unexpected star of this book, a woman we all need in our lives and would be blessed to know. Danny finds himself almost desperate to find someone to love or to form a meaningful relationship with, and in a digital world, this quickly becomes more like an addiction as his quest has additional importance due to his mum’s ill health.
He dives, literally head and feet first into the wonderful world of online dating, finding this to be like one of those tall cans of potato-based snacks, meaning once you swipe, you just can’t stop. And bless him, he can’t and is well and truly “app trapped”
Danny is a loveable character, and I found myself seriously rooting for him to find “the one”, despite his litany of terrible, and questionable dates. I think maybe he should’ve enlisted Lila (the cat) as she would potentially have had better instincts, but then would we be? Not listening to/reading this amazing book and laughing at poor Danny’s laundry list of bad dates.
Will Danny find his lobster, the one he will be with forever? Well, that quite frankly would be telling – and I wouldn’t want to spoil the outcome of this for you. I will say, there was a point in the story, although I knew it was coming, which had me in tears. And I mean I had to stop, sit down and just let the emotions flow. The narration of this added so much, and I wanted to do was reach into my headphones and give Danny the worlds biggest hug as he deserves it.
There is so much humour packed into this, a lot of it is typically British, which given the author is British, isn’t a surprise. While this might not translate well outside of the UK, trust me the number of times I found myself laughing, groaning and open jawed at the humour I lost count.
Dan (the author, not our hapless hero – or is he?), has crafted a brilliant book, it’s well written and doesn’t fall into cookie cutter category, situations feel at times like they come from some sense of personal experience, also artistic license could have been applied. The characters are believable, and I’m sure we’ve all met people like this at some point.
To say this is Dan’s second book, I will say he has a real skill for writing books I want to read, and more importantly than that I enjoy reading and listening to on audio as he has considerable skills in bringing characters and situations to life.
The narration as always in fully on point, and the characters are easy to differentiate between, each given their own unique voice.
Personally, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

A bit of a spoiler:
I liked that Danny immediately liked Harry but hated that Harry wanted to see what else was out there and get his money’s worth from the dating apps he’d paid for, before (what felt like) settling.
Overall this was a funny take on online dating - just not romantic enough for me.

Big trigger warning for the final chapter.
Sadly not really my kind of story, too many cringe situations. The final sad scene would have fit better if Danny had had a more believable relationship with Harry a little earlier. It was a well written scene, though, which wrapped the story up completely.
