About this listen

The sequel to the iconic worldwide bestseller THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HARRY QUEBERT AFFAIR

"If you liked The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair, you will love this" The Times

"One of the world's most original voices in crime fiction"
A. J. Finn, #1 bestselling author of The Woman in the Window

The murder of Alaska Sanders was quickly solved. Within days, two suspects were identified. One died, the other pleaded guilty. Case closed.

But, eleven years later, the death of another woman in a fast-food parking lot changes everything. Marcus Goldman, celebrity author and amateur investigator, picks up a thread that will unravel not only an open and shut case, but the very fabric of his best friend's life.

Sergeant Perry Gahalowood, who led the original investigation, is hell-bent on setting the record straight. Teaming up with Marcus, he seeks redemption in most the intricate and testing case of his career.

In this sequel to the phenomenal worldwide bestseller The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair, Joël Dicker delivers the last word in slow-burn police procedurals. Clue by clue, witness by witness, question by question, his characters solve an unguessable puzzle that could only have been set by the master of the plot twist.

Critic reviews

A literary superstar
Joël Dicker's novels evoke the creepy pastoral dread of Twin Peaks, the clockwork plotting of Golden Age detective fiction, and the black comedy of the noir masters. If The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair read like Gatsby by way of David Lynch, then The Alaska Sanders Affair recalls True Detective: there's something both classic and daring about it. One of the world's most original voices in crime fiction (A. J. Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Window and End of Story)

I’ve read all of Joël Dickers books now and each one is linked through Goldman or Joël himself, I like this about them. You don’t need to know the other stories to follow along though. He builds a story with so many layers, just when you think you’ve got to the bottom of it another layer is peeled off. I really enjoyed everything about this book and hope it follows in the footsteps of Harry Quebert and is made into a tv series!

I like the way this story keeps you guessing. The narration is perfect and I know because I am very fussy about who I can listen to. Well worth a listen.

Great story and narrator.
