About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The 4 Pillar Plan, written and read by Dr Rangan Chatterjee.

"One of the most influential doctors in the UK (...) I could talk to Rangan all day (...) he's amazing"- Chris Evans

In The Four Pillar Plan, Dr Rangan Chatterjee presents us with an incredibly simple framework for taking control of our health. He divides health into four pillars: diet, rest, sleep and movement. By making small, easily achievable changes in each of these key areas you can find and maintain good health - and avoid illness. You don't need to excel at any one pillar; what matters is the balance across all the things you do, from:

· Having an electronic 'sabbath' once a week
· Aiming for 12 hours every day without food
· Exposing yourself to sunlight first thing each morning

Based on cutting-edge research and his own experience as a GP, and featuring fascinating case studies from real patients, The Four Pillar Plan is an inspiring, easy-to-follow and practical guide to good health.

finally a lifestyle development book that is easy to follow but with a slight technical/medical focus. the book gives real suggestions that an everyday person can do. he doesn't tell you that you need to do everything in the book but encourages you to start doing a few of them to start seeing improvement. the book really makes you assess your own life and where you could improve.

A lifestyle must have for normal people!

I came across Dr Chatterjee on the Deliciously Ella podcast and he talks a lot of sense so I thought I’d give this one a listen. If you are someone who already has a good knowledge of health and wellness you may not discover many major revelations in this book, but if you are at the start of your journey you will find his sound advice backed up by research really useful. I do love Dr C’s holistic view to healing and prevention and I wish more GP’s took this same approach, hopefully the NHS is moving this way because aside from helping patients it will save them billions of £! I loved that the section on nutrition he tells you not to count calories or macros, and just to take a really common sense approach to eating. In fact much of the guidance is very much based on common sense and really sustainable as a lifelong approach to health. Well done Dr Chatterjee, keep spreading the word!
