About this listen

Salt Flat, Kentucky is a sleepy town. Until a mysterious tent shows up one day, with a charismatic preacher, inviting the people to an old-fashioned tent revival. Everyone’s mesmerized by his presence, entranced by the magic he performs.

Sy Sutton isn't fooled by what’s going on. But as his son becomes entrenched in the craziness around him, he has no choice but to get involved.

With the help of an unlikely friend, he'll try to save his son and the town he's fond of. Unknown to him, something lurks below. An ancient being with an agenda. When she comes to the surface, all hell will break loose on the night of the Tent Revival.

I read other books from this author so I was happy to get into this one too!
I love a good small town horror and when you also add to the mix a mythological creature, ghosts and a cult, well then I'm all in!

Whilst I found myself wanting to know how the story progressed, I have to say that some of the characters' dynamics, the continuous sexual scenes and the stress on sex in general, kind of ruined it a bit for me (this is my personal taste though).
I loved some scenes description, and especially the ghosts ones which I found very original and effective!

I listened to the audiobook and although I enjoyed it, I thought the narrator could have done a better job, and I think I'd have preferred reading the book.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but some of the things I mentioned didn't make me love it. But as I really like Edmund's writing, and I'm nonetheless intrigued by Rebecca's story I will pick up the sequels for sure!

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to listen to it and this is my honest opinion.

Small town horror with mythological creatures, ghosts and more!
