Target by Simon Kernick

Absolutely outstanding - a riveting listen - a high octane crime story with breathtaking twists and turns. One of the best of the 40 or so audio books of this genre that I have listened to whilst out walking or driving over the last 12 months. Mike Bolt and Tina Boyd at their very best. Also brilliantly read. I will definitely buy more by this author.

Thrilling and competently told

'Target' opens in a thrilling way and continues at breakneck speed, through kidnaps, car chases, gangsters and terrorist plots. Good narration. Very exciting and I regularly wondered how the main protagonists were going to 'get out of this one'. Surprising in parts, too. I also enjoyed 'Relentless' by Simon Kernick and I'll definitely be looking for the author's other work.

Excellent Thriller

I have read all of Simon Kernick's books and this is just as good and very well narrated. Not too complicated but still a page turner.

First taste of a Kernick book

What made the experience of listening to Target the most enjoyable?

Within the first 5 minutes of the book I was hooked, so many twists and turns a real enjoyable listen. Never heard of Simon Kernick utill I joined Audible I'm now downloading another of his for this months listen.

Similar to Andy McNabb and Chris Ryan books without the Army connections

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Without giving too much away - Realisation that his mate was more involved that first thought

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout - really wanted people to live, but the story had other ideas

Any additional comments?

Will deffo listen to this one again in a few months time.

The Most Exciting Story So Far

Would you consider the audio edition of Target to be better than the print version?

The performance is so good that I think it's better in audio. I Think it would make a good film.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rob Fallon he was an amazing character. He was normal and scared which made him more likable.

Which character – as performed by Paul Thornley – was your favourite?

Rob Fallon

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I was sad especially at the end but I don't want to give the ending away.

Any additional comments?

I haven't listened or read Simon Kernicks books in order and asTina Boyd the police lady appears in a lot of them it's best to listen in order. You do find a few spoilers from past cases being mentioned. Most Simon Kernick books are available in audio but the first few early books aren't
