Summary

I'm one of four Willow daughters. He's the first-born son of the Scafoni family. And we have history.

For generations, the Scafoni family have demanded a sacrifice of us. A virgin daughter to atone for sins so old that we don't even remember what they are anymore.

But when you have as much money as they do, you don't play by the rules. You make them.

And Sebastian Scafoni makes all the rules.

The moment I saw him, I knew he would choose me. Even though the mark on my sheath declared me unclean. Even though my beautiful sisters stood beside me, offered to him, he still chose me.

He made me his. And then he set out to break me.

Dark and powerfully seductive

If you enjoy a dark romance with broken characters and intense sexuality this book is for you! This is not your typical BDSM book. This skirts the borders of consent and delves into sexual desire and pain. The attraction between the MC's is obvious though and the storyline is fantastic! Just a warning.. Holly cliffhangers Batman!! Be ready to lock yourself in binge because you'll want to jump right into the next book!

The only part I struggled with was the narration. The female part was AMAZING! I wish she would have just just done the whole thing. Her voices for all the characters were fantastic. The male narrator, not so much. He honestly sounded almost robotic at times. His performance was forced, rushed and flat. It really threw off the flow for me when they switched.

This was a great start!!

My first ever book by Natasha Knight and it was great!! I love the story, it was pretty angsty I was hanging in there the whole first part of the book with so many twists and turns not knowing whom to trust.. the story of the willow girl and Sebastian.. she was different, she was strong, bold and inteligent.. she thought she wasn't going to be chosen as she was so different from her sisters.. but life had another plan for her and she was chosen to take a very hard role that at the end she may or may not come alive.. Sebastian was ruthless and strong but he wasn't evil as his family was, he had other plans and other needs.. he wasn't happy about his family antiques and agenda.. he is about to change the course of family traditions. now it's about time to see if he will finally succeed..

the chemistry between Sebastian and Helena is amazing love how strong it is, you can even feel it whenever she or he is thinking about each other. no matter if they're not in the same room..

The narrations were good, MacKenzie Cartwright brought and made us feel each feeling and emotion Helena was going through she really did great bringing her to life.. I had a little hard time with Michael Pauley narrations at some point as I felt like the narration was not feeling natural but other than that both did a great job ..

I can't wait to see what happens in Torn!!

Intense!

Taken by Natasha Knight is full of intense, dark romance. Having read many of the author's other books, I knew I was in for a thrilling listen. Being the impatient person that I am, I immediately listened to the second book (Torn) after this one finished. Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright were magnificent bringing the characters to life. They really gave great emotions. Thank you Audiobook Obsession for this review copy, I loved it!

Wow!!

What a story of lies and deceit! Natasha Knight did a good job with this story. I love dark romance and had difficulty stopping this one!

Helena didn’t expect to be the chosen one... and Sebastian didn’t e pact to want her. So is Sebastian the good guy!? And what about Gregory? He seems good... but does he really?

Will Lucinda have her way? I’m moving on to Torn to find out!!!

This is my first Michael Paulette listen and also my first MacKenzie Cartwright listen.

Sold by the title!

This is definitely not for the faint of heart... This is a dark book and I'd definitely be cautious if you are not used to reading dark books. I wouldn't recommend this as someone getting into the genre. However, if you have been reading this series for a while, then yes, I would TOTALLY recommend. But like I said, this is a pretty dark book that involves our heroine being sold off and is used... I am a sucker for a good dark book, so of course I enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to book 2!

OMG!

This book was sooo good! It was dark and intense and very twisted. It does end in a major cliffhanger but that's okay for me because I have book 2 already in my library just waiting for me to press play. Natasha Knight is so good at keeping the listener on the edge of their seat throughout the whole story. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. If you love dark romance, then this is the book for you!

Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright did amazing at bringing this story and the characters to life.

What a thriller!

The Scafoni and Willow families have been tied together for centuries by a cursed and brutal tradition. This generation Helena has been chosen to be the sacrifice. This begins 3 years of sexual slavery and brutality by the 3 Scafoni brothers. The most brutal though is Sebastian's stepmother. Soon Helena finds herself falling in love with Sebastian. But can she trust any of the Scafoni family members especially Sebastian. If so, will he be able to save her?

The narrators did an excellent job of taking the listener into this very dark world.

I voluntarily received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. It is full of mystery, hidden truths, sinister people, twists and turns, erotic sexual scenes, superstitions, angst, who can be trusted issues, and love. It does contain a cliffhanger but the second book is there to be listened to/read. I will be listening to it right away. If you like dark erotic romance books this is one for you.

Addictive Dark Romance

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 3.5 stars

I don't read much dark romance, but I've made an exception a few times for Natasha Knight and I have never regretted it. Her books and characters push me out of my comfort zone and are so addictive! Once I started this one, I didn't want to stop and it remained in my thoughts until I could get back to it. The premise is so intriguing and I couldn't wait to find out more about the history between the Scafoni and Willow families. I will admit that not everything made the most sense, but the pacing was good and I felt engaged and invested the entire time. Make no mistake though, this book is not for the faint of heart. There are some very difficult chapters with questionable consent and possible triggers for listeners/readers. The Stockholm Syndrome was also strong and I'm not entirely sure how much I consider this a romance. There's a scene towards the end that had me cringing due to its brutality and how much the anti-hero, Sebastian, derived sexual gratification from the entire exchange. Listeners/readers should also note that this is book 1 of the duet, so brace yourself for the cliffhanger because it's a doozy!

Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright did a fantastic job bringing Sebastian and Helena to life. Pauley's performance was especially riveting and I am always impressed by his ability to embody these morally ambiguous heroes. I think my only issue with his performance is that it seemed muffled/not as clear as MacKenzie Cartwright's. Overall a great listen and I can't wait to start book 2!

TAKEN 😣😤

WARNING! 😣 this book isn't for the faint of heart people. This book has verbal, and physical abuse in it so if these are triggers for you than I would think twice about this one. This first book is very very dark.

Cliff Hanger but so worth it!!

I’ll start by saying this has good narration, you cannot go wrong with Michael Pauley!! Sebastian and Helena are brought together by a centuries old “deal” between families. It is an intense, dark romance that has several twist and turns. It is classic Natasha, she keeps you wanting more. Several questions remain unanswered so it does not have a sweet ending wrapped up in a pretty little bow, but it leaves you ready to dive into book 2!!! Willow They or Won't They

I enjoyed the pacing of the story. This was a very quick listen for me because I needed to know where the story was going. The story opens on a dark note and just continues from there. It's told from duel POVs: Helena Willow the feisty iron willed young woman. She is chosen as the Willow Girl by the eldest son in the Scafoni family; Sebastian. He supplies the other POV. He is a tatted mafioso bound by rules and tradition. I had a bit of an issue fully understanding the reason for the reaping or this would be a 5 start listen for me.

The narrators are wonderful and easy to listen to.

This is definitely a dark/taboo read. There are themes of kidnapping, sadism, dubious consent and abuse. If you are sensitive to these elements this would not be the book for you. It does not shy away from the brutality.

The book does end with a cliffhanger. So for closure you will need to read book two in the duet.

I would recommend this for fans of The Indebted series by Willow Winters and Acquisition Series by Celia Aaron.

Scafoni Family VS Willow Daughters

Taken (Dark Legacy Duet #1) by Natasha Knight is a very dark erotic romance with triggers. The Scafoni & Willow family
have history together, being tied together for centuries by a curse & a brutal tradition. A intensely, dark, mysterious & absolutely captivating listen. Oodles of details explaining certain events, however the further I delve into this duet the more questions I have. A game of cat and mouse being played by these characters. Characters are compelling as well as have complex personalities. This author intertwined a tale that includes a family curse, betrayal, criminal aspect, enemies to lovers trope, morbidly twisted, & sensuality. I'm so ready to dig into book two as this ends in a cliffhanger.

Narators Michael Paulie and Mackenzie Cartwright are new to me as I haven't listened to anything they narrated before. I revel in the naration. These two together brought the narrative & characters into existence.

THAT ENDING, GAAAAAH!

Okay, this story was so freaking good!
The male narrator was perfection, I enjoyed listening to his voice, felt the excitement and mystery of the story through his narration. The female narrator did not impress me at first but she to one me over. The author wrote one heck of a story and that plot twist, bam! Need book 2 like yesterday.

Wow!!!

Taken is book one in the new Dark Legacy Series. I found myself on another emotional journey with this book. This is more then just a story of revenge and romance between the Willow and Scafoni families, this is about two damaged people named Sebastian and Helena. There are so many twists and turns to this story that I would find my self wanting to listen to it for longer times, and the narrators, Michael Pauley and Mackenzie Cartwright, did such a great job to make me feel like I was feeling all of Sebastian and Helena's emotions that I didn't want this book to finish. I can't wait for the next book!!
