Summary

'Talia Hibbert is a rockstar! Her writing is smart, funny, and sexy' Meg Cabot

'The author's charm and wit sings off the page in this delightful fake-romance fare' Bolu Babalola, bestselling author of Love in Colour

USA Today bestselling author Talia Hibbert returns with another charming romantic comedy about a young woman who agrees to fake date her friend after a video of him 'rescuing' her from their office building goes viral - perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory and Helen Hoang!

Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown and an occasional roll in the hay to relive all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits...

When brooding security guard Zafir Ansari rescues her from a workplace fire drill gone wrong, it's an obvious sign: PhD student Dani and ex-rugby player Zaf are destined to sleep together. But before she can explain that fact, a video of the heroic rescue goes viral. Now half the internet is shipping #DrRugbae - and Zaf is begging Dani to play along.

Dani's plan is simple: fake a relationship in public, seduce Zaf behind the scenes. But grumpy Zaf is secretly a romantic - and he's determined to corrupt Dani's stone-cold realism. With every fake date and midnight meeting, Dani's easy lay becomes more complex than her thesis. Has her wish backfired?

Or is the universe waiting for her to take a hint?

I liked that it was the boy wanting the relationship and not the girl like it always seems to be, made him seem extra sweet! A pretty cute story overall

Absolutely brilliant author, wrote my favorite book. This one. Real people with real issues, facing them. What is more beautiful? When written like this, nothing. Did not realize till now I had one more favorite "genre". Thank you.

There is nothing wrong with Ione Butler narrating this story. But she is not Adjoa Andoh, the narrator of the first story, hence the 4 stars. Apologies.

Possibly even better than the first one?

OMG 😲I loved this 😍 their relationship and how it evolved was great, sweet and exciting. They had to battle their feelings, past trauma, anxiety, etc. It was very funny at times too and the spice was top notch. I loved that they come from different backgrounds and that she is voluptuous, independent and strong.
The narration was perfection. I like the narration is british. Listing to it as I read was even better.

Wow! Why did it take this long to listen to this??

The characters were likeable and I loved that it's two non-white characters with strong cultural backgrounds and that those differences weren't the focus of the relationship. No food descriptions for people (chocolate, mocha, etc) and no fetishizing of each other because those novels are exhausting and lazy. (you know yourselves). However, I found the last couple of chapters too angsty. Maybe it's just me but I thought the "conflict" would've been more believable from a YA novel. All in all, I would recommend.

So I have a really bad habit of avoiding hyped books because I think I'm going to dislike them to just be swept away in the hype. Neither is the case here because this genuinely is glorious. The banter, the quirky Dani, sweet loveable giant Zafir. It really is everything everyone says it is. Funny, adorable, sweet as sin, spicy and tense in spots and I cannot say enough about how wonderful everyone in this book is. It is the moment. No question.

The hype is real
