About this listen

Lady Aisla Montgomery has a perfectly tolerable marriage...as long as her husband stays in Scotland and she in Paris. But now, years later, she wants only one thing - a divorce.

Niall Stuart Maclaren, the rugged Laird of Tarbendale, rues the day he met his beautiful, conniving wife. Though the thought of her incites a bitter and biting fury, no other woman has ever stirred his blood as hotly.

When Aisla returns to Scotland to sever ties, Niall agrees on one condition - one week with him for every year of desertion. Six weeks as his wife in his castle...in his bed...in exchange for her freedom.

Contains mature themes.

The book is well written and the narrator is great. The plot has too many holes. He is jealous and doesn't trust her and till the end of the book that doesn't resolve. After they finally have a serious talk and he says he believes her, he does the exact same thing, believes his woman friend who it has been hinted that he had started to see the vicious side of. He never takes Aila's side against his woman friend. The way the plots solves the problem is to kill her off and she makes a death confession. And when she wakes up after days of being unconscious for days and says a few words he takes that out of context and spins all over again. And when he is told to go after her he quotes the time he went to Paris and found her with all her suitors. So even after everything after the friend confession he still doesn't believe her.

Not so bad

Another most enjoyable amusing and captivating story from Keira Montclair, wonderfully narrated as always by Paul Woodson……Many thanks 🙏 Bernice Best 2024.

Excellent writing and great a narrator çombines to make an audible book one does not want to pause. It is a love lost twice, a devoted friend to one and a sly friend to the other. Love though, won.

the book is well written and well narrated.
i found it infuriating that the main characters would not communicate clearly. I had to skip sections as I just couldn't bear it. if you like a comedy of misunderstandings and wrong assumptions go ahead.

infuriatingly full of non communication
