About this listen

God has blessed Hezekiah; his kingdom is flourishing. The people are prospering and the city of Jerusalem is safe from invaders. But the king worries that his beloved wife may be barren. After all his hard work in preserving the faith and protecting the faithful, the thought that one of his pagan-worshiping nephews will become ruler is upsetting. But he suffers greater anguish when he stumbles upon the secrets of his queen.©2005 Lynn Austin (P)2007 Recorded Books Royalty Biblical Fiction

The authoress has maintained a high standard and kept close to the Biblical account. An interesting take on the Assyrians being wiped out overnight at Jerusalem, which fitted well into the storyline. I still believe it was the destroying angel though that did it. Also Hezekiah's 'illness' was an unexpected take on things but it worked well. The narrator is incredibly good, however I am pretty sure Hezekiah's and Eliakim's voices changed from the last recordings and took on an Ahaz tone which was a shame. The storyline was gripping and I listened to it in a weekend. Excellent.

Excellent all round - will certainly listen again
