About this listen

Welcome, Emissary.
As Benjamin Sisko picked his way over the wreckage that was his new command, a thousand questions, countless problems, dire reports, and the soon-to-be-familiar harangue of the Bajoran Liaison Officer clamored for his attention. From the shadows, a monk stepped out and greeted him. With all that had happened, it is no small wonder that Sisko took that greeting and relegated it to the back of his mind.
Six years have passed. Despite the recent retaking of Deep Space 9 , it seems that the Federation is losing the Dominion war. As commander of a front-line post, Sisko focuses on the war effort, paying little attention to the latest rumor. "The fabled lost Orbs of the Prophets have been recovered. Legend holds that these orbs are the key to unlocking a second wormhole -- a second Celestial Temple." In war, sometimes the little things you don't notice are your undoing.
Now Benjamin Sisko, a man of science and a Starfleet officer -- and also the Emissary -- is swept up in the ultimate war of good versus evil. Every decision he makes draws him, his family, and his crew into the abyss. Faced with the possibility that he alone must decide the fate of life in the galaxy, Captain Sisko must unlock the truth behind the fabled Orbs of the Prophets or the future, the past, and even the present will wink out of existence!© 2000 Paramount Pictures. I have read this book in its entirety and the audible experience makes it more enjoyable.
the narrator was hit and miss trying to mimic the voices. would have preferred his own voice so in my head I could give it the inflections and nuances.
the voice are unnecessary as it's unlikely that anyone would purchase this if they were a fan of DS9 and probably find the mimicry painful in places

Nostalgic and familiar

Far too heavy on sound effects, clearly wrong for those familiar with DS9, and unnecessary for all. The story seems tangled, not at all the usual for these authors. The characters, in general, act as you would expect them to, though I don’t imagine those new to them would have a developed idea of who they are. They just aren’t described or developed well. In all, this is a vehicle to sell a series of books. It’s much too short, comes to a sudden, cliffhanger, end. There just isn’t enough there to get you past the idea that you’re being milked, and no real incentive to purchase the next in the series. Very poor overall.

Bedlam

Feels like it misses out huge chunks of story with a very weak ending. Does nothing to advance to DS9 story. Not worth it.
