Gripped
As other have said, its gripping, with all the twists and turns. You certainly feel sympathy for the main character and feel his dilemmas, who can he trust? Who can he turn to? What is happening? Don't let the short torture scene put you off as the rest of the story is well worth listening to. The narrator is excellent and I would listen to him again!

Disturbing, didn't care for it!!
What would have made Splinter better?
Didn't hear long enough to find out!! :(
What was most disappointing about Sebastian Fitzek’s story?
There was a scene of distasteful torture a little way in that just couldn't listen to and was put off.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Ben Crowe?
N/A
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment and distaste.
Any additional comments?
NO

Enjoyable but Slightly Bizarre
I really enjoyed the majority of this book. The storyline was quite different to what I usually read and full of twists and turns. You simply don't know what is real and who to trust. The only small downside is the reason for all of it at the end was rather far fetched but what the heck, it is fiction after all!

Good, but far too drawn out to be a Fitzek Classic
If you could sum up Splinter in three words, what would they be?
Engaging, Irritating, Engaging.....repeat
If you’ve listened to books by Sebastian Fitzek before, how does this one compare?
Not of the same quality. His recent works, the Child and AMOK were both 5 Star. This earlier book, purchased on the high standard of the aforementioned, left me somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong it's good, but when you've tasted fillet, the rump just gives youth hump.....
Which scene did you most enjoy?
Nothing stands out. There were so many scenes with the main character being tormented by ever changing possible outcomes to his living hell e.g. whether his supporting characters were 'good guys' or 'bad guys'. In the end you just got irritated by far too many unnecessary twists.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Planted Amnesia....., a film you may want to forget
Any additional comments?
You might love it, plenty did. Hope you're not disappointed has I was.

What a great read
I listened to this as an audiobook and liked it a lot. At times it had me in two minds - the fist wondering what the heck was going on, trying to work out the story, the second wondering how the author was going to pull it all together and make sense of the story. I failed on the first front, as it kept me guessing to the very end, and the author succeded on the seocnd point.
I thought this story was awesome, and if you're in two minds about getting it, I'd say definitely go for it, you won't regret it. I listen to a lot of not so great stories, this wasn't one of them! The story was from a German translation, but don't let this put you off, it doesn't detract from the story one bit.

The synopsis sounds interesting but the torture scene in chapter 2 was too graphic for me and I'm not going to listen further.
