Antonia Weston has come to the sleepy market town of Amberwood in search of peace and anonymity after a shattering and all-too public tragedy in her life. Shortly after her arrival, a series of disturbing incidents occur eerily echoing the past she is trying to forget. She becomes fascinated by the macabre local history surrounding the disused watermill, Twygrist, and the now vanished Latchkill Asylum. Memories still linger: how no one would pass Latchkill in "the spider light". Someone knows all about Twygrist's darkness, and how to use it in a most horrific way.©2007 Sarah Rayne (P)2007 Oakhill Publishing Ltd Crime Fiction Genre Fiction Mystery Psychological Suspense Thriller & Suspense Fiction Crime

A good read, found it hard to put down. The first couple of chapters seemed a bit old fashioned and slow, but it soon hotted up!

surprisingly gripping

Would you listen to Spider Light again? Why?

I do enjoy Sarah Rayne, although I think she pretty much writes the same story again and again - but it's enjoyably creepy and that's what matters. Unfortunately I was unable to listen to this one for long as the narration was just awful. Pauses in completely the wrong place, launching at words for no apparent reason; huge emphasis where none was needed. A real shame because this is a great walking book.

Would you be willing to try another one of Diana Bishop’s performances?

No.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It would be if not for the narration.

Spare me any more of that narrator!

This was an extremely good and creepy book. The suspense hardly ever let up, and the switching back and forth between time zones was not detrimental in any way. Is there going to be a sequel? Yes please....

Had to keep Listening!
