About this listen

The first step to reconnecting with an estranged loved one is reconnecting with yourself. Many consider the death of a close loved one as the most challenging life event, but when one of your children cuts you out of their life, the pain can be very similar.

Coming to terms with this requires what can seem like superhuman strength. You're both still alive, but you're grieving. If you're reading this, you probably want the magic words to fix things. But what if the answer lies not in trying to change your child's mind but rather in addressing your own hurt and trauma? You've tried various approaches to soothe the pain, only to find that it keeps coming back. This is where the shamanic approach comes in. It's not about getting lost in the world of spirituality; it's about empowering you to release blockages and wounds.

This guidebook is specifically for those who want to achieve inner peace and embark on healthier relationships. In this book, you will discover:

  • How to tap into earthing, to connect with nature and get you back into balance.
  • A vital technique to combat feelings of worthlessness and depression because it's only when you feel whole that you can embark on happy relationships.
  • Controlled breathing techniques to stop the fight or flight response.
  • Tools to help you express your authentic self and release trapped emotions.
  • How to align your goals with your values.
  • Key self-care activities to carry out in your daily life, and how to stop second-guessing yourself and your self-worth.

And much more. You might feel like you can't survive without mending things. Yet if you don't address your hurt first, these issues are likely to resurface.

I started this audiobook feeling completely broken after my child cut ties. Working slowly through the exercises—one main practice at a time—has rebuilt quiet strength. Daily breathing, weekly grounding, occasional art or movement add up. I’m still sad, often, but moments of genuine calm are increasing. I can face holidays and milestones without falling apart as badly. The gentle pace encouraged here suits deep pain. I’m healing in pieces, and that feels possible now.

The concept that I have a relationship with my child inside me, regardless of where they are, changed everything. I realized I was letting that inner relationship become toxic with resentment.

Healing that inner bond has brought me a lot of peace. I can think of him now with love instead of just pain. It is a shift in perspective that I think is essential for any parent going through this. It takes the powerlessness away.

I found, listening to this to be very cathartic and healing. I took great comfort in the knowledge that I am not alone and appreciated hearing the advice on things I can do to support myself and to start my healing process.

The author is right in the introduction: this isn't a magic pill. You can't just listen to this on your commute and expect your life to change. You actually have to do the exercises. I have been taking it slow, about one chapter a month like he suggested.

The Wim Hof method section was intense, but adding cold exposure to my routine has actually boosted my mood. It forces you to get out of your head and into your physical body. If you are willing to put in the work and step outside your comfort zone, this guide offers a real path forward.

Hard work but definitely worth the effort
