About this listen

From new best friend to girl of her dreams. Sorry, Bro is an #ownvoices debut rom-com - a bisexual My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

When Nar’s boyfriend gets down on one knee and proposes to her a San Francisco bar, she realizes it’s time to find someone who shares her idea of romance.

Enter her mother who wants Nar to settle down with a nice Armenian boy. Armed with a spreadsheet of Facebook-stalked men, she convinces Nar to attend 'Explore Armenia', a month-long festival of events in the city. But it’s not the parentally-approved playboy doctor or wealthy engineer who catches her eye - it’s Erebuni, a cool and intriguing young woman fully intouch with her heritage. Suddenly, with Erebuni as her guide, the events feel like far less of a chore, and much more of an adventure.

Erebuni helps Nar see the beauty of their shared culture and makes her feel understood in a way she never has before. But there’s one teeny problem: Nar’s not exactly out as bisexual.

A funny, heartfelt and deeply relatable rom com about family, cultural identity, queer love, and the process of self-discovery that continues into adulthood as identities evolve, all in a fresh, humorous voice.

Praise for Sorry, Bro:

Critic reviews

As I read [Sorry, Bro], I kept cackling out loud and I would often pause to describe to my husband what was happening – or try to, anyway – I sometimes couldn't because I would be laughing so hard. But underneath the humour is such an important story of love between two women and the journey to rediscovering Armenian culture and heritage. (Jesse Q. Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties)

Sorry, Bro is a lushly scented courtyard of a book, and a wonderful place to spend time - full of rich sensory details, complicated but loving relationships, warmth and humor, and a lot of fun. Voskuni’s descriptions and characters are immersive and vivid, and I loved spending time with them. (Audrey Burges, author of The Minuscule Mansion of Myra Malone)
Voskuni debuts with a bighearted queer rom-com uniquely inflected with Armenian American culture . . . it’s easy to invest in the characters and the Armenian American cultural details add charm. This is a treat.
With this radiantly ravishing debut, Voskuni beautifully illustrates the courage it can take to be your own true self and risk everything for love.
Sorry, Bro is a beautiful love letter to Armenian culture wrapped up in a warm and witty romance that absolutely sizzles with chemistry. Taleen Voskuni expertly braids romance with jaw-dropping atmosphere and swift hits of knowledge and strength. She pours her heart onto the page with power and beauty in a way that makes readers feel seen and cared for. A new auto-buy author for all. Sorry, Bro is as indulgent as it is profound, breathtaking as it is healing, and in one word: EXQUISITE. (Courtney Kae, author of In the Event of Love)
The most heartwarming tale of family, heritage, loving bravely, and loving yourself, with a humour that adds a light touch to the poignant themes and a vivid San Francisco setting that brings the whole story to life. I stumbled upon this audiobook by chance, was inspired by the beautiful cover and so I bought it.
It turned out to be a very enjoyable story. As an anthropologist, I loved to see the main character struggling between two cultures to find her own identity. I loved also the coming out narration, very well described. I was feeling her pain and empathised with what she goes through.
It’s an optimistic and positive story, which I really needed. If you ask me, I loved it.
