About this listen

There are two sides to every story. Especially when you're still in the closet.

Tim Wyman hoped moving to Texas would mean a new beginning, but he soon finds himself falling into the same old patterns. Until he meets recklessly brave Benjamin Bentley, who brings love and compassion to his world. Certain that society won't understand what he and Ben have together, Tim is determined to protect their relationship, even if it means twisting the truth. Buried beneath his own deceptions, Tim must claw his way to the surface in the hopes of learning to fly.

Something Like Winter retells the story of Something Like Summer from Tim's perspective, offering previously unrevealed moments and personal journeys as he strives to become worthy of Ben’s love.

Each Something Like... book follows a different LGBTQ character on their quest for love. Central to the plot is the troubled relationship between Ben and Tim, former high school sweethearts who continue to meet over the years, their chemistry changing with each encounter. Surrounding them are friends and enemies, each with their own story, resulting in an immersive universe filled with first times and second chances. While the series doesn't shy away from intimate details, it also focuses deeply on emotion, promising an experience that will stay with you long after the final word is heard.

This book is intended for mature audiences. The recommended listening age is 18 or older.

such a clever book series, love how each book is telling the same story put from someone else's perspective filling in the gaps and has you remembering bits when the books cross over into each other making you think that's why he reacted that way or that makes sense now I know how he got the scar. the author is such an amazing writer , the narrator was a joy to listen to as you visualise the story in your mind. so many twists and Turns and cannot wait to start audio book 3. so nice to have a gay book that isn't stereotyped

loved every second

In 'Something Like Summer' we were introduced to Ben and Tim, with that story being told from Ben's point of view, and when we first met Tim he wasn't the most likeable character, and for good reason! This story is told from Tim's perspective where we learn more about Tim and his mind set and how he comes to terms with his sexuality. As the story develops we get reacquainted with some familiar characters, and some new ones.

Tim's obsession with Ben, and his meddling in Ben's life is very nearly his undoing, with his emotions taking him, and us, on a roller coaster ride!

The excellent narration by Kevin R. Free brings the characters to life and I was disappointed when this story ended - I wanted more, and I'm so glad that there are further stories in this series, and I hope that they as good as these first two! This is 13 hours of listening well spent and I can highly recommend it!
