A wonderful new series by Mary Balogh

I always enjoy Mary Balogh's books and Rosalyn Landor narrates this book wonderfully, bringing each of the characters alive.

Narrator critique

the narrator wasn't very good with the male voices/interpretation. Too pompous and sounded too old

Loved it!

This is the first book I have read by Mary Baloch but it will definitely not be the last. I really enjoyed it. Rounded characters, believable and flowing storyline and perfectly read by Rosalyn Landor.

A great listen

This is the first book I have listened to by this author and it won't be the last as I will be off to purchase book 2 in the series. I absolutely love the narrator I have listened to many books narrated by her so I bought this without hesitation. I definitely recommend this.

Felt a bit flat and boring tbh

Characters were lacking chemistry and Anna makes some unlikely decisions based on her current feelings towards Avery. Story felt flat and missing exciting plot points, but narration on point as ever.

Dull

Those are two rather dull and unacomplished mc's making rational decisions and talking with familie about manners. Emotions are restrained, thoughts are serious. Happy it is over.

About the narration: it was good but often a new chapter or scene started without a moment of pause, leaving me bewildered.

A sectional criss cross story

A book of human endeavours. Spiritual, physical, mental, a joining of hearts; centred by 💘love!

I love this story which is so unique...!

I love that this is a Cinderella retelling for our main character, Anna. she has spent 25 years in an orphanage and suddenly finds herself being an heiress and nobility. It is exciting seeing her growth and her staying true to herself and core values. I absolutely adore Avery and his idiosyncrasies. He is impossible and fun to read. I enjoyed this tale thoroughly and keep coming back for rereads every year.

However the best book in the series for me is Camille's story, Book 2.

Narrator does an amazing job. I love her soothing voice and impeccable British accent.

Nothing happens, very sentimental

I hate leaving bad reviews but I struggled to finish this. The plot is underwhelming: I was waiting for a plot twist right to the very end! I am a Georgette Heyer fan and am struggling to find a good substitute now I've read all of them.
