SIMPLE, POWERFUL SOMATIC EXERCISES YOU CAN DO IN 5 MINUTES
101 Plus Exercises to Reconnect. Regulate. Reclaim Your Body.

Mental Health professional review 04/18/25

Do you feel stuck, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from your body?

You’re not broken. Your body is trying to protect you. Rooted in the science of Somatic Therapy, this book offers 101+ scientifically proven exercises and short Intentional Techniques and practices that help you release stress, regulate your emotions, and rewire your relationship with your body.

These Quick 5-minute practices —make them easy to integrate into even the busiest lifestyle. You’ll learn how to:

•Understand your nervous system and why you freeze, shut down, or overreact

•Use body-based tools like grounding, shaking, breathwork, and self-touch

•Identify and release trauma patterns held deep in your body

•Cultivate and feel a sense of safety, even during chaos

•Mindfully regulate stress, anxiety, and overwhelm—without overthinking it.

This book provides a toolkit for integrating mindfulness into your daily routine through the body—not just the mind.

Your body is like the black box on an aircraft, keeping a record of everything you experience—emotions, memories, and behavior. You may not be aware, but your body is and can tell you how to ease your emotional burdens.

When you become aware of your body's sensations, you can use them to manage stress, recover from trauma, and bring your mind and body back into balance.

I expected a basic collection of relaxation tips, but the explanations about nervous-system responses gave the exercises more meaning. I could listen while walking, then try a practice later when I had a quiet moment. The narrator keeps the pace steady and leaves enough room to notice what is happening instead of rushing through each suggestion.

I’d listen again because I suspect I missed useful details the first time. On a second pass, I’d pay closer attention to the sections on shutdown, physical tension, and choosing an exercise for a particular mood. It feels more like a reference I can return to than a book I finish once and forget.

The moment that stayed with me was the idea of noticing one small physical signal before trying to fix anything. That shifted the whole experience for me. Instead of treating stress like a problem I had to argue with, the book gave me simple ways to pause, orient myself, and choose what to do next.

The narration is calm without becoming sleepy, and the short sections made it easy to stop and try a technique. I liked the practical focus, though some of the explanations felt familiar after a while. Still, I can see myself returning to the exercises when my mind is too busy to be helpful.
