Story
Nearly three decades ago, Katherine Kyle and Jamison Parker saved the life of the president of the United States, in the process exposing an exceedingly dangerous, powerful shadow organization. The entire episode came at great personal cost and forever changed the trajectory of the couple's lives. Now at the peak of her career as one of the preeminent novelists of the day, Jay is finally ready to put the past to rest in a fictional treatment...until powerful government forces intervene.
Summary
Whose side is he on?
Brody Taylor loves hacking humans. After all, people are the weakest link in all computer systems. If he's hired to break into your network, he will find and exploit the weak point. You.
The problem with always manipulating people is that even those closest to you don't trust you.
And Brody's just fallen in love with Melanie, a zany, beautiful French animal rights activist. But she's in love with the character he's trapped himself in, not the real Brody, social engineer and computer hacker. Can Brody social engineer his way to the truth and save his relationship with Melanie?
A novella that introduces Brody Taylor in a thrilling standalone adventure.

Disappointing for true animal lovers
I was concerned that this novella might disappoint me or even anger me but in the end I was thoroughly irritated by Brodie’s pathetic “copping out” at the end. His girlfriend was far more to my liking of course as she was vegan and an animal rights activist but she annoyed me by not listening and thereby letting down the AR movement in the end. I suspect the animal cruelty footage won’t feature again but in fairness to the author I shall look at his other Brodie novels. The fact that his character doesn’t really care about the torture of laboratory animals and the author’s dismissal of vegans/vegetarians as boring people who can only discuss animal rights or their jobs truly riled me as I and my friends have discussed subjects ranging far and wide at dinner parties! It’s a shame that those of us who care about nonhuman species are usually portrayed as idiots or sneered at by writers’ central characters. Finding Boo Walker on Audible was a rare treat.
