About this listen
It’s January 1941, and the Blitz is devastating England. As America maintains its isolationist position, Churchill knows that Britain is doomed without its powerful ally.
Harry Hopkins, President Roosevelt’s most trusted adviser, is sent to London as his emissary and comes face to face with the prime minister himself and an attractive and determined young female driver who may not be what she seems.

"Readers will savour this breathtaking ride...a heady, heartbreaking romance" (Pam Jenoff, author of The Kommandant’s Girl)
"London of the Blitz comes vividly to life.... Compulsive reading." (Simon Mawer, author of The Girl who fell From the Sky)
Gripping historical novel

Firstly, the narration was superb, exceptional delivery & just the right amount of character. Will definitely be looking at other tiles read by William Hope.
Onto the novel: just the right amount of the "romance" stuff, the inclusion of which usually means I'll pass.
The remaining content is a fabulous blend of fact and 2nd world wartime atmosphere, perfectly crafted.
The dynamic between Whitehall, Winston, Hopkins and the other characters keeps the listener on the hook.
Can't recommend this title highly enough.
