Nice!

It was nice to see the story that we hear about in Skinwalker. It was refreshing to get to see Jane from another character's point of view and to get a glimpse into Jane and Molly's friendship.

Interesting!

This short story grabbed and held my attention from the very first. With witches, skinwalkers, and vampires, how could it not? Of course, the narrator was excellent, which can make or break a story/novel. There are some really good stories out there, but terrible narrators are chosen, so the book languishes.

I will certainly listen to more from this author.

I loved it!

I loved it!

This was such a surprise. I found these books and thought they were just more stories about Jane in New Orleans. I had no idea what a treasure trove I had found and what I was in for. I was so happy at the end of my first book to find that these were stories of Jane’s history and how some of her backstories played out that are just referenced throughout the series. I also enjoyed hearing the stories from Molly’s perspective. It was money and time well spent.

Feral vampires hold up in gem mine

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this book. Quite a few of the books in this series refer to the happenings in this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like the detective, Brack. He did not have a " no" and was very willing to follow Molly and Jane anywhere to stop the bad guys.

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Khristine Hvam kept the voices different depending on who was talking. Fine performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it is a short story best listed to in one sitting

Any additional comments?

This is a must read if you are reading the series. It will stand on its own merits.

This should be 1.5 in reading sequence or prequel

What did you love best about Signatures of the Dead?

This explains so much that the first book eludes to. I am glad I read it later so I knew who all the characters were but this definitely is a must read to understand the beginnings of Jane as a vamp hunter and the cop she carried out of the cave mentioned in the first book.

What did you like best about this story?

Molly's acceptance of Jane is really expressed in this book. I have read ahead in the series and for awhile their relation is strained. It is really good to see the friend relationship beteeen them in this one.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Love her voices, she is awesome and so versatile.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Was sad when Braxton was killed.

Any additional comments?

Great book that is a stand alone but also fits right in as a short story to fill the gaps alluded to in the full blown books. One not to miss. Happy listening.

Short and sweet

Any additional comments?

This is a fun short story, but be aware that it is an extract from one of the other books, not a new story.
Also be aware that while some of these 'shorts' are an hour or more long, others are rather less than that.
Very enjoyable listen anyway!
