Summary

An emotional, sexy, forbidden romance performed by Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton! Scoring with Him is the first novel in the utterly addictive Men of Summer Series!

As a pro athlete, I’ve spent my life playing by rules, on and off the field. Especially this one - don’t date another baseball player. Following that ironclad rule has been as easy for me as hitting a lazy pop fly on a summer afternoon. Especially since I’ve got far too much trouble in my past to want to bring any into my present. Until the day a hotshot rookie walks into my locker room.

Outgoing, affable, and sexy as sin, Grant has confidence and talent for miles. Doesn’t help that he’s easy to talk to, that he seems to get me, and that we each have our fair share of secrets and scars - ones we’ll both fight to protect. All the more reason to resist the kind of trouble his lips and eyes promise. Even after I plant a scorching, hot kiss on the rising star one night after a game. Even after he sends me the world’s sexiest selfie. But when Grant reveals his biggest secret and asks for my help, I’m so damn ready to rip up the rulebook. Turns out he’s a virgin, and he wants me to help him get around all the bases. As long as I don’t fall in love with him as we go.

Scoring with Him is book one in the Men of Summer Series. This romance between two professional athletes spans five epic years and continues in Winning with Him, also performed by Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan.

So good!

I absolutely adore Grant and Declan. They work so well together, they understand their situation perfectly because they’re both in the same baseball world. The story is so good, I love how much everything just clicks. I love how open Grant is to Declan with what he wants, and it was so great to see them both fall for the other. And who wouldn’t! They’re swoon-worthy together. I nearly threw my kindle at the wall, pleading with them to change their minds. I will drop everything the moment I can get my hands on the second book! They’re are still too many loose threads, and I just have to pull on all of them!

Nice one!

Nice sport romance audiobook. The story is pretty classic I would say but well written.
I actually bought this one for the narrators of course, how not too with Teddy Hamilton AND Jacob Morgan?!
It felt almost like a fanfiction of HIM (Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy) as I know those narrators so well from this series.
Finished with a nice cliffhanger so i'll gladly buy the book 2!

Gripped

Oh this is one hell of a story, I am a sucker for a bit of angst in a character and they certainly both have backstory. Just when you think you know what is going to happen Lauren hits you with a twist and a beauty of a cliffy. My favourite thing in a book, luckily not long to wait for book two!

One Track Steele

How can you not fall in love with Grant Blackwood and Declan Steele? To me it’s like breathing, it just comes naturally for me to fall in love with Lauren Blakely’s characters (all of them). Scoring With Him has all my favourite genres wrapped up in one, no sorry make that two, books. Sports romance (baseball no less). Forbidden romance, and of course m/m romance. Yes, it’s just perfect. Grant is the rookie on the San Francisco Cougars, that means he actually gets to play with his longtime crush, Declan Steele, one of the best ball players in the major league. That’s as long as neither of them mess up their game, and there’s one sure fire way to do that. By lusting after each other. They both need to keep their eye on the ball and avoid distractions during the season. So, no matter how attracted they are to each other, they’re not going to go there. Or are they? I loved it. Perfect writing, perfect characters, and perfect narration. Because, duh, Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan. They nailed it. Be warned though, this is a duet, so if you’re anything like me you’ll be left reeling. I need book two, like now, because I need their happy ever after.

Has cliffhanger

Book 1 Men of Summer by Lauren Blakely narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan.
This is a book about baseball which I won’t lie as I live in UK don’t really know much about baseball but really enjoyed the story really enjoyed the little bit of education about baseball found it quite interesting.
Declan and Grant are the two main characters in the story it’s really nice to listen to a relationship between guys that isn’t sleazy are on realistic Lauren Blakely has a fantastic way of getting romance across to the reader regardless of sex race heritage culture she is fantastic at this getting the love across.
The story developed really well over the time of the book that’s narrated by two absolute fantastic narrators they do a grand job expressing both separate characters and also the other ones in the groups because obviously it been surrounded by a baseball team there is a lot more of the characters that they do the voices for and do very well.
My only complain about this book is after listen to quite a lot of hours it actually ends in a cliffhanger and I absolutely hate cliffhangers but because I love this writer had these narrators so much I will be buying the rest of the series plus I can’t live without finding out what happens but I’m gonna lie I’m not a fan of the cliffhanger I has just warned.

So boring

I really wanted to enjoy this as it has a good concept and narrators. But it was soooo boring. It literally sent me to sleep several times and I had to rewind to what I’d missed.

Then that ending? Why would you communicate like that at such a pivotal important moment?! Maybe it would be answered in the next book, but I certainly don’t care enough to find out. What a disappointing book. (The story carries on in the next two books with the same couple so isn’t a standalone)

Tedious

Dnf at 75%.
I just can't take it anymore. Nothing happens. They play, talk and hook up. I suppose I have to summon my angst they should not be found out myself?
Or maybe the pageturner is the big unanswered riddle hinted at in the first chapter: Why does he know all about birds?
Mmmmm, nope. Not thrilling at all.
One more thing: "Whenever I need courage or strength I turn to poetry," does not make sense to me. Not even after 4 hours listening to "proof".

I read in other reviews the ending of this story is in book 2. That made me so dispirited. I am not at 75% but at 42%. Noooooooooooooooo

Epic romance

To say I have been dying to get my hands on this book would be the understatement of the year. This book is perfection!! From the moment I started reading I simply could not stop. Scoring With Him had me grinning, sighing, swooning and gave me a twist I did NOT see coming. Hands down, this is Lauren Blakely at her best!!

Scoring With Him is the first book in the Men of Summer duet. Yes, you read that right, duet!! This begins the epic story of Grant and Declan. I am absolutely in love with this world!! If you haven't read a MM romance before I urge you to start with one of Lauren's-where love is love and it's simply accepted as just that.

Grant and Declan stole my heart in this book and I'm 100% ok with not getting it back. I expected to love Grant just a smidgen more than Declan but I was wrong-I love them both equally. I have claimed them and I'm prepared to fight anyone who tries to take them away from me :) Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton give one of their finest performances in this book. I absolutely love them but there is just something special about the way they bring Grant and Declan to life here. You can feel the excitement, the tease, the longing and the romance between them in every word.

Grant is such a sweetheart. He's smart, sexy and confident-until he has to talk around Declan. I loved watching him unintentionally flirt with his crush, then try and correct it. I loved his friendship with Reese and his support system was outstanding. He's quite the catch-no pun intended-and I couldn't help but fall for him...hard.

Declan. Oh, Declan. This guarded man just made me want to hug him. He's got an innate confidence that is just so sexy. I love his determination, his rules. And I absolutely LOVED seeing him want to break his rules for Grant. He has a vulnerable spot and I did want to hug him every single time that surfaced.

These two have a connection that is just undeniable. From the very moment they meet you can feel that spark, that WANT-even though they both try and ignore it. The flirting and banter these two was just perfection. Seeing them finally give in was SOOOO incredible. This book has one of the best first kiss scenes I've ever read-I was definitely fanning myself just from that!! Their connection is not just in the bedroom (but seriously, have a fan and batteries at the ready) and I loved seeing them balance their friendship and respect for one another with their growing feelings. I was invested in them 100%. Their love was so believable to me and I was cheering them on from the start.

The writing here is top notch. I literally could not stop reading once I started. To me, this book is a whole other level for Lauren Blakely-and that's saying something for me! I adored the supporting cast of characters here and hope to see more of them soon. There is one character though that I actually disliked-and I can say I've never disliked a character from this Author before. There are reasons for my dislike, and I won't spoil them by listing them, but I will say the behaviors of this person are 100% accurate. I'm also a sucker for all the little easter eggs Lauren gives her readers; they always make me smile.

As mentioned before, this book is the first in the Men of Summer DUET. I will tell you I gasped out loud at the conclusion of this book and frantically tried to turn the page to see what happened next. That's how engrossed I was in this book! I don't normally do cliffhangers and I'm so glad we won't have long to wait for the conclusion of this duet.

Scoring With Him is a ten star read. It has the heart, heat and humor I've come to expect from a Lauren Blakely book with something extra. This is a book I've already read again and I know I will revisit it time and again. I cannot wait to get my hands on Winning With Him to see the conclusion of this epic love story!!! Don't miss out on this book! I absolutely LOVED it and HIGHLY recommend it!!

⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars ⭐️ ⭐️

I have been waiting for this book because I just knew I would adore it! This MM Romance was so sweet & sexy but It was also so much more. I love that Lauren gives us a world where love is love and we can just enjoy the love without all the other nastiness.

Declan & Grant were HOT from day one! They have mad chemistry but they also have a true love connection which I felt all the way through this book. Even though they planned it to be a fling, there was no way it ever could have been from that FIRST KISS and OH MY that kiss scene was PERFECTION!! I swooned, my heart melted and I fell in love too! This book was super hot and every one of the sex scenes were awesome and really made this story and the characters feel so realistic to me. Declan has a dominant vibe about him which I love but I love even more that he isn't really bossy, he just knows what he wants and isn't afraid to say it. Grant is more the fun loving innocent type but with a very old soul serious feel about him and being with Declan brings out his bolder side.

Now let's talk about the cliffhanger.... just a little. While the ending left me DYING for more, I will happily wait for the next book because we get another book with this same couple which isn't normally the author's style and let me just say I am SOOOOO happy she chose Declan & Grant for a series because I know I will fall in love with their story all over again with the next book.

As always I adore Lauren choice for the narrator of these characters. Teddy & Jacob are a serious dream team of narration and they were so good I forgot it was them and not Declan and Grant telling me the story!

Hot!

This is the first book in the Men of Summer Series, an M/M Sports Romance. Declan and Grant's story is sweet, steamy, and beautifully written. They share a sizzling hot chemistry! The characters are well developed, and the heartfelt storyline is interesting. The steamy scenes are well written, and really hot! The story ends with a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to listen to Winning with Him, the next book in the Series. Jacob Morgan and Teddy Hamilton did a wonderful job with the narration.

Holy Smokes!

OMG this was so good! Lauren writes such wonderful characters. Declan and Grant stole my heart. I loved the build up of them being together, the UST was off the charts! I loved the way they talked to each other, it made my heart melt over and over again. And can we just talk about this dream narration team? Jacob and Teddy are amazing. They bring all the emotion, all the passion, all the love. This was a spectacular audio of a fantastic book. The cliffhanger was intense and book 2 cannot come soon enough!

Lauren, Teddy and Jacob knock this out of the park

I'm always excited about a new Lauren Blakely book and I was not disappointed with this one. I mean, it's baseball. How could it not be a hit?

As much as I would have loved Grant and Declan's story all in one book, there was just so much story with them, it needed to be this way.

Grant has been crushing on Declan for awhile. When he's invited to spring training, it puts them in the same bubble, and holy cow to the sparks fly. From the first meeting, it's clear that their vows to not get involved during the season and with a teammate were gong to be hard to stick to.

And it is. They finally agree to do this thing with a time limit. And the days they have together are glorious and hot. But then Declan gets traded and the distractions of "them" jeopardize Grant making the team.

Someone is going to get hurt. Someone is going to get their heart broken. Someone may just be both of them.

Cannot wait for Winning with Him for the conclusion to this great story.

Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan do such a great job of bringing these two characters to life.
