Summary

When I was four years old, my inept biological parents decided they wanted to summon a demon.

They planned to summon one and control him so they could gain riches. However, they didn't realize you can't control a demon, you can only enter into an agreement with them, and so their demon was able to walk out of the summoning circle that they didn't close properly.

They intended to summon a lesser demon, what they got was Abaddon the Destroyer, the angel of the abyss, king of the plagues, and all that evil stuff.

He took me back to hell with him and handed me over to Lucifer, who trained me to be a demon hunter.

I didn't have the swing set in the back yard, the toy box in the corner full of toys, a bicycle, or skateboard. I had daggers, knives, and books that list all demons and their powers, lessons to create pentagrams, sigils and wards, instructions on sending demons back to hell and maintaining a mind link with Lucifer.

They say a second war is coming. Most call it the second coming of our Father.

My name is Kastor Blackwood. I've been chosen to prevent that war.

A little short needs to be left me wanting more!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Kastor Blackwood was 4 years old when his parents summoned a demon to grant them riches . However they didn’t close the circle and Abaddon the destroyer unleashed his wrath on them . Kastor was sent to Lucifer who trained him to be a demon hunter . I really loved listening to this series but would have liked them to be at least 8+ as they were quite short and left me wanting more . The narrator David S. Dear was really good at all the different characters and I would listen to more of his work.

Familiar Urban Fantasy Premise done well

This book served as a somewhat brief, but still entertaining introduction to Kastor Blackwood and the world he encounters due to being a demon hunter who had been raised in hell from an early. The overall story was an entertaining one even if Kastor was in many ways your stereotypical urban fantasy novel lead character and I would be interested in reading more in this series, but the ending did feel like it was a little abrupt.

I found the performance from the narrator gave a suitably distinctive feel to all the main characters and his tone was clear and pleasant enough throughout the rest of his narration too.

Overall, an entertaining chapter from the life of Kastor Blackwood and I will definitely consider reading more from this author in the future.

Wanted more....

A pretty decent story and well read (although I did feel it sounded better at X1.25 speed) but I did feel it was more of an intro to explain everything and then just as the real adventure is about to begin, it ends... as it was only 3 hours or so, I would have preferred it to be longer and have had a proper conclusion to the story... looking forward to reading the rest though! :)
