About this listen

It’s been said that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing us that he doesn't exist. Using the literary device of an “as told by” autobiography, the Kabbalah Centre reveals the concept of the Adversary, which plays a major role in kabbalistic teachings. Satan resides within each of us, manifesting as a recurrent little voice of uncertainty. The tests that he puts before us are a means to help us grow.

I’ve felt hints of this wisdom in my past and I’m happy for discovering segments of my life experience in this book. It will undoubtedly help me fight my fears and selfishness, while becoming successful and happy as a changed man

This book is creative, eye-opening, and came to me at just the right time. It really helped me understand the ego in a way no other book has. I love how the author uses a creative approach to show the connection between ego and the role of Satan. It definitely makes you stop and think. Changed my life, now I laugh at myself more when I catch myself embodying the ego.

Creative and deeply thought provoking

This short tome reminds me a lot of Napoleon Hill's strange classic, 'Outwitting the Devil'. The Oppositioner, just like Hill's devil, is given a direct voice - and underscores the critical Qabalistic truth, namely, that the holy books of Christianity and Judaism are taken literally at our peril. More accessible than the Zohar - I think that this book is a great starting point for students of the Qabalah who want to dive deeper. As a Gnostic Christian, I can say that this book merges the true gold of both Christianity and Judaism expertly. One issue that readers take with this book is the vexed issue of Tikkun (similar to the Eastern concept of Karma). Obviously small children undergoing the torments of war and abuse are undeserving of this treatment.

However, something that Tikkun means, is that we manifest this Karma in societies in the aggregate. As a people, we look away, the great 'they' wouldn't do that etc ... so we shut our eyes and ears to active evil being perpetrated in the name of religion, politics, and the rest. Our collective apathy, ignorance, and misplaced trust appear to be manifesting a very grim future for both us, and for future generations. As an aside: I have PTSD myself, and Rav's teachings have actually helped me contextualise my experiences - so I say that people with trauma are safe to give this book a try - and it may even help. I mention this, as some readers think it denigrates trauma as a 'your fault' issue due to Tikkun accumulated elsewhere (in a previous existence) - so if you don't feel strong enough to accept any part of this, the Qabalah is probably not for you. We are free to reject, accept, or partially accept as appropriate.

One key takeway from this book is fascinating: The Deuce can interfere with all prayers that are not pronounced in Aramaic. It's probably telling that you can't find an English to Aramaic translation program anywhere on line!

This reminds me of Napoleon Hill's book ....

Keep this in your mind for while. So, the adversary "Satan", destroys Job' house killing all his children, thieves stole all his belongings and was hit by leprosy. So Job still had faith and he didn't complained to God for his misery and "bad luck".
Now hear this: In the beginning of the teachings, Ravi tell us that the unique energy that was there before even the creation of the universes and we call God, wanted to share his love, bliss and kindness but couldn't because it was alone. So, it created a being as a recipient for his love. It created
a Soul which after the events later was broken into the souls of the existing people. Our purpose is (according to the Ravi) to find the way to return back to God and appreciate the real happiness as having endured a lifetime of testing of Satan's tricks. So far , so good. Now let's link it with Job and also to our stories in real life here on Earth. Facts: 1. Children's souls is part of the one Soul.
2. Job's children are getting killed by Satan's actions and if we correlate with today children are currently getting murdered, raped, neglected in ages from infant till 17 y.o. What is the purpose for this kind of behaviour towards that? Satan is putting into test little souls of e.g 4 y.o toddlers? Satan expect that these young souls have the experience knowledge to know what is wrong or right? Can these victims be part of God's act as Satan is here to help us (according to Ravi)? So Job's children were killed just to test Job? what about the children individually? what purpose did they serve? why these souls to be tortured without being able to defend themselves in the first place?
conclusion: I can understand the logic so it is a big no for me. Worth to listen to it, as every book deserves that BUT please put your logic and sense and assess what is actually presented. Some parts of the book are very interesting but always try to evaluate .
