About this listen

Ordinary people + everyday habits = extraordinary results.

How does a 'normal bloke from Plymouth' achieve more success than he could ever have dreamed? By becoming a Routine Machine. This book will show you how you can follow a simple, everyday plan to achieve your goals without requiring superhuman effort or natural-born talent.

In this book you will learn:

  • Why morning routines don’t need to start at 5 a.m.
  • The one routine that makes everything else easier
  • How '90s TV show Gladiators can cure your procrastination
  • Why John goes dog walking with Arnold Schwarzenegger
  • Plus insights from other Routine Machines, including Rik Mayall, Warren Buffett, Sir Richard Branson, Hulk Hogan, John Lennon, Stephen King, Sir Bradley Wiggins and the 1993/94 Plymouth Argyle squad

I really enjoyed Routine Machine. I'm not an aspiring entrepreneur or even a business owner, but I was looking for something to give me a few ideas on how I could make my working / personal life a little more organised. This book is so easy to listen to and John Lamerton makes the time fly with witty anecdotes, real life facts and much more. I really hope I can take something away from this book, but regardless I really enjoyed it.

Easy to follow and a great listen

I have listened to over 100 books and this is the first review I have written on any book.

John breaks down the content/message of the book and deliveries it effortless. He injects humor and keeps the book exciting throughout.

I could listen to John all day

This book truly is a game changer.

Amazing book- 5 stars all around

I've been waiting for someone to write a book on routines and schedules. There are alot of good habit books and business books but this book brings you back to your own core priorities. I will be implementing a weekly email and quarterly newsletter as a priority after reading and I realise I need some admin staff to help me aswell as so.e time blocked to write up my business processes. Thank you for an enjoyable and humorous read. I have plenty of take aways from this book. Excellent!

Fantastic book, brought everything together!

A rare English motivational self-improvement book. Personal and practical and thankfully missing the fake confidence and relentlessly positive attitude of so many American equivalents.

Motivational without sounding like it. Excellent.

This is the second book I read from this author and it's helped me as much as the first one (Big Ideas for Small Businesses).

First of all I just love the way John Lamerton narrates his own ideas and stories. It's refreshing to listen to, easy to follow and motivating.

The exercises help a lot if you actually put them in practice. I've had a lot of AHA moments and realisations and, surprisingly, I'm looking forward to having my own routines, even though I'm actually quite bad at organising my time.

I highly recommend this, especially to people who love their freedom and their creative sides.

Thanks AGAIN!
