Summary

The scum hiding deep inside the Reach out along galaxy's edge thought they could kill her and not pay the price. For years these hardened killers have run roughshod over the lawless worlds where Republic justice is never as fast as the blaster in your hand and where double-crosses and death are a part of every deal. They thought this time would be no different.

They were wrong.

This time, the Guild sent the legendary bounty hunter Tyrus Rechs.

As the infamous Rechs pursues the men who murdered his colleague, he's hell-bent on justice, heedless of the trail of destruction he leaves across ruined worlds and fantastic gambling meccas alike. Because for Rechs, this isn't just another Guild contract...it's personal.

Its not bad

its not bad but not really all that great either. drones on a bit in places and get tedious the last 3 hours are about the best part but even then its short lived. for me Rex was better in the main story line not really sure what happened here. its a good story but not all that gripping or memorable. also switching narrators especially from RC Bray in a series is never a good move. when you get used to accents and how some portrays a character and pronounces their name it just sounds wrong, dont think its Ray Porters fault much of what he has to work with would sound fairly boring no matter who read it

And so begins a whole new chapter!

I will keep this brief. If you enjoyed Galaxy's Edge then you will love this as we discover more about the the legend of General Rexx. Great story, excellent narration (not the Audible god that is RC Bray but seriously good). I await the next installment.

We need more

Excellent story, excellent performance. Would have preferred RC Bray as I associate Ray Porter with Joe Ledger series. Overall a well written and performed audio book. Please can we have more books based in this universe.

Distilled to perfection

This tale felt like a distilation of every sci-fi and action story, film and game I have enjoyed over the last four decades, and yet it is very much it's own entity, and a thoroughly enjoyable one. The world and characters sucked me in and left me wanting more, and the authors have crafted so many intrigueing possibilities for future tales. Encore!

10 stars

Tyrus Rechs. The man is an enigma and Requiem delivers more pieces of the puzzle. It's all coming together now. I never thought that a bounty hunters' love story can be so hauntingly and as another reviewer said - achingly - beautiful. There is plenty of fighting here, but I love it how the blaster fire is blended with melancholy of loss. I read the description of the book and it was like "ok cool!" I listened to the book and it's like "oh wow, stick that dagger in my heart again, that was beautiful..." I did not expect this. By now I know the guys are amazing at combat narrative so I'm quite stunned at the skillful delivery of this emotional tragedy. The very final dialog got my face drenched in tears. This is one of the best books by this author team and the narrator brought it home.

A must read for any Galaxy’s Edge fans!

A lot of the anthology books have been hit or miss, with the stories ranging from the more traditional space opera styles of yesteryears, or the military science fiction that’s also top notch. This book manages to mesh action and intricate story telling in a way that’s both exhilarating and extremely engrossing. Ray Porter’s portrayal of Tyrus Rechs helps humanise the man within the mask, whereas the main series and Imperator had us believe that Rechs was a stone-cold man, as Rechs rightfully wanted them to think, Ray Porter’s take on Rechs’ mannerisms and internal dialogue made Rechs feel relatable. Overall, a great story and great performance.

Rechs VS the universe!

WOW. Action packed, non stop violence, and just enough tragedy to humanise Rechs for the first time. When an old friend is killed, The T-Rex of the legion must track down her killers on a seedy space station known for violence and vice. A fantastic story.

Excellent storytelling

Wow. This was a new direction for the Galaxy's Edge series, and I loved it. This is a love story first, and an action story second. But if you're a GE veteran, do NOT let the love story discourage you from trying this. Anspach and Cole deftly intertwine the love, action, and mystery aspects of the story so you never get overwhelmed by any one of them. If I had one gripe, I think they could have added about an hour to the story, to add some exposition to a few of the plot points, but that's splitting hairs. Great book, and I got my credit's worth.

Fantastic!

Man was this a good book. Medusa and Imperator are by far the best GE books IMO. Awhile back I took a chance and picked up Legionarre and near the end I was thinking there was so much potential beyond Military Sci-Fi (a genre I'm not really into) for the series. I have not been disappointed, the main arc is very diverse and broad in the stories it tells. Imperator and Medusa blow away all expectations. There is so much to explore, think about and guess at in the GE universe. Rechs is the anti hero done right. He's the hero that was the epitome of the archetype that was so well done in the 80s and 90s, an archetype today that is more bad and gratuitous than likable today. It was refreshing. Rechs is so well done that you almost dont realize he is an antihero, he comes off as a pure hero and you almost dont realize he's killing people left and right until he has reservations about it. The Nanoplague was very interesting, there were a decent amount of twists to make you try and guess what's going on (Imperator was more like "WTH...what is this...omg..."). I'd love to see you guys write more books along these lines, they are amazing. Ray Porter is an absolute joy as well.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend--Tyrus Rechs

The story is haunting, as to be expected with the life of Tyrus. Not to give too much away, but we see the kinder, gentler side of the famed bounty hunter before he fell apart. The story is achingly beautiful even while being packed with the gunslinging action we've come to expect from GE. Loved it!

Too much narrative of what “Rechs is thinking”.

I have three hours remaining, and intend to finish the book, but I had to pause to express my annoyance with not enough planning for action, action, and after action. I would have never bought this book if I knew it’s real title should have been, “Tyrus and Medusa - a Love Story”. I hope that, in the future, the authors avoid all the “this is what Rechs is thinking about life, death, Medusa, and the galaxy” filler. I have come to expect a certain type of story from the GE Series. I’m not sure what you guys are thinking, but this ain’t it. It seems like you’re trying to appeal to women or something. Knock it off! I’m fast forwarding through your Bravo Sierra. And Ray Porter is okay, but R.C. Bray is way better. Edit* Okay, I take it back - a little. The last three hours, the climax, were excellent. And even the romantic mumbo-jumbo is tied in masterfully in the end. Upgrading from 3/3/3 stars to 4/3/4 stars.

Save the credit

It's been a while since I was this disappointed in a book. This work is completely underwhelming on every level. Plot, characterization, world/setting were all unimaginative, tired, and cliche. Nothing about Requiem for Medusa is memorable or noteworthy. While I can certainly appreciate a well crafted adventure that isn't too demanding, a cheeseburger of a book (if you can dig it), this is a terrible cheeseburger. If you're looking for some lighthearted action, look elsewhere. I certainly wasn't looking for Dune or anything so heady. But I couldn't find a way into the story. I didn't care at all about the characters or the plot. It felt like I was doing homework.
