About this listen

**FROM THE ACCLAIMED AUTHOR OF LIE WITH ME AND DEAD HEAT**

'Splendidly creepy, with plenty of paranoia' Guardian
'This is one super-disturbing psychological thriller' Woman & Home

Everyone keeps telling me I have to move on. And so here I am, walking down the road where he died, trying to remember him the right way.

She thought losing him was the worst thing that could happen.
She was wrong.

They tell her not to worry. Her sister, the police. They say it's only natural, when someone close to you dies, to see him everywhere, sense him still nearby.

But they don't know Zach like she does.

How much he loved her.

How he liked things just his way.

How far he would go to get revenge...©2014 TPC & G Limited

Critic reviews

When a thriller leaves you looking over your shoulder, it's a sign the author's doing something right. In fact Durrant doesn't put a foot wrong with this assured and deeply unsettling chiller... Superb
Spellbindingly dark and intense drama
Grips immediately... Durrant sustains the mystery throughout and offers a clever resolution
This is one super-disturbing psychological thriller
Durrant's debut, UNDER YOUR SKIN, was among the best of the wave of psychological thrillers that appeared in the wake of Gone Girl's success. REMEMBER ME THIS WAY is better still...An elegant, quietly chilling illustration of the ways in which lovers blind themselves to reality
A writer who can leave you breathless with anticipation...A superb book, from start to finish. (Alex Marwood, author of The Wicked Girls)
From its brilliant yet heart-breaking opening to its unexpected and shocking ending, it took me on an exhilarating and relentless journey until the very last page...as tense and terrifying as they come (Samantha Hayes, author of Until You’re Mine)
Totally gripped me: twisty, dark, beguiling. Just my kind of story. Brilliant. (Julia Crouch, author of Cuckoo and The Long Fall)
An intelligent, compelling tale...both well constructed and suspenseful (Paula Daly, author of Just What Kind of Mother Are You?)
Fresh and compelling prose, packed with twists. A treat. (Sarah Hilary, author of Someone Else's Skin)
Tense and gripping ... a world that will leave readers desperately racing to the truth, along with Lizzie, via twists and turns that will give you goose bumps. An exceedingly good read
Creepy and emotionally acute (Andrew Taylor)
Durrant is too cool simply to indulge the obvious. Brilliant on social signifiers and observation, her intelligent interpretation of the world and its psychologically complex inhabitants shines all the way to a satisfactory ending
If Sabine Durrant's previous psychological thriller UNDER YOUR SKIN, was indebted to Agatha Christie, the centrality of Cornwall in REMEMBER ME THIS WAY suggests Christie has been displaced by Daphne du Maurier.... While UNDER YOUR SKIN was striking, this is a stronger performance.
Alternating between Lizzie's narrative and Zach's diary, it's splendidly creepy, with plenty of paranoia (Guardian)
Praise for UNDER YOUR SKIN
A thrilling whodunnit...will keep you gripped and guessing till the very end. Is it - dare we say - the new Gone Girl?
Warning: you won't want to put this down...a series of clever twists lead to a stunning ending

Where does Remember Me This Way rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely in the top 5

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It didn't make me laugh or cry, though I was hooked and listened to this non-stop. Fantastic storyline, lots of action from the beginning and not too many characters. When I was listening at home alone, it did make me feel a bit anxious! Really enjoyed it.

Gripping! Fantasic

Gripping story - and really well performed. I found the very beginning a little slow to get going, but well worth sticking with it as it picks up the pace, and then keeps going right to the end. Thoroughly recommend.

Kept me gripped!

Would you listen to Remember Me This Way again? Why?

I would definitely listen to Remember Me This Way again, as there are so many little details that you can pick up on the second time round!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I'm not sure I had a favourite character, but I enjoyed listening to the two different versions of both main characters, it was interesting to hear their versions of the same event

What does Penelope Rawlins and Daniel Weyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

It is nice to have two different voices; it breaks up the story. Instead of solely listening to one, female voice, or one, male voice, you have both!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, if I could have I would have!

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book, and very nearly missed my stop on the train (twice!) as I was so enthralled!

Captivating Story

The book starts very well and really gripped my attention as diffident librarian, Lizzie Carter, meets handsome Zach through internet dating. Soon his obsessive, compulsive behaviour starts alarm bells ringing, in my mind at least, if not Lizzie’s. She puts up with physical and mental abuse that beggar’s belief in those of us who haven’t suffered this trauma, but women’s refuges apparently see it all the time. Little clues suggest that Zach has fabricated a persona and Lizzie eventually sees that the relationship has no future. The story becomes creepy as events suggest to Lizzie that Zach hasn’t been killed in a car crash, but is stalking her and she starts to fear for her life. The book sustains a powerful momentum until near the end when it falters as threads are cursorily resolved. Midway I did start to become irritated by Lizzie’s apologetic behaviour particularly when the teenage daughter of a friend of Zach’s takes advantage of her hospitality.

It’s a disturbing, psychological thriller that did keep me listening despite the weak ending.

The narrator is very good and is convincing as Lizzie, effectively irritating as the recalcitrant, whining teenager.

Creepy story of obsessive love
