Summary

The perfect blend of Back to the Future and The Shawshank Redemption.

Gerald Holstrom is serving his life sentence trying not to think of the crime that led him to 47 years inside. His hands hurt, his back aches, he waits to die.

Death comes swiftly at the end of a sharp piece of metal.

Gerald fades, his regrets flood him. He wishes only to see the sky without barbed wire blocking his vision.

He fades out....

Then back in.

The sky is clear, his hands don’t shake, his body doesn’t ache.

He’s 19 again, is his future set? His Journey is just beginning!

I just couldn't get into this one, unfortunately

Maybe I've just been spoiled with other stories I've enjoyed more, lately. But this story just couldn't catch my interests.
I wasn't a big fan of the narration either.

Loved this time travel story!

With both Shawshank Redemption and Back to the Future being my favorite movies, it's not a surprise how much I enjoyed this book. Hard to find such an original and captivating story these days.

BRING ON BOOK 2

This book started slow but once it picked up steam I was glad I stuck with it. It says book 1 of series so I WILL BE BUYING book 2. I loved the character development and now that I think back to it. The build really helped the listeners get to know our characters. I am very happy I took a chance on this one!

Was skeptical the 1st few chapters... it was a little confusing at first and almost gave up. Glad I didn't!
Give it time and you'll be hooked!

Great story - interesting concepts.
Can't wait to read/ listen to more of this series.

Great Idea, Poor Execution

I normally do not write reviews on here, although I do grade each audible by star rating. I typically write reviews on Goodreads so that all readers and listeners can see the review. However, the narrator here was so poor that I feel the need to write a review. Whether it was a woman, a child, a young man or old, the narrator made no attempt to alter his voice, intonation, or anything. He did perform a horrible British accent, and a poor Russian one, which just became odd since he didn't make any effort with the main characters.

The story that the authored weaved, and the ideas behind it, were really very good, but other than the main character, I felt like all of the other characters were poor imitations and not realistic in the silghtest.

Great narration matched by an intriguing storyline

Gotta say, the narration by JH was fantastic. Spot on with inflection, cadance and subtle changes between character's ensured it was not jarring or distracting.

loved the unique storyline and the plentiful twists. placing my pre-order for book 2 now!
