Publisher's Summary

Greg Boyd longed for his father to know Christ. But as a former atheist turned believer, Greg understood Ed Boyd's reservations. So he offered a unique invitation: His father could write Greg with any questions on Christianity, and he would in turn deliver a thoughtful response.

What began as an intimate correspondence between father and son soon captivated seekers everywhere. Letters from a Skeptic presents a profound defense of the Christian faith. Throughout, listeners will discover a conversation that not only brought Ed Boyd to Christ, but impacted thousands of lives around the world.

    "Life changing!"

I've always been a believer surrounded by believers. This means I've never had to dissect the belief to the level this book does. During the last letter from the dad, I broke out in full-blown sobs at the absolute grace and beauty.

Truth. Wisdom. A moving story and well done. Very unique but the compilation of letters comes together to tell a story in a way I have never listened to a book before

    "Enlightening and emotional"

This book was SO good.. I learned so much on a theological/apologetics basis, the story is incredibly beautiful, and Greg Boyd and the man who reads as his father do an excellent job. I love Boyd's theology and am very much inclined towards it. His interpretations of the Bible on matters such as hell, suffering, and sin are the only ones I've heard that, in my view, can be reconciled with an all-loving self-sacrificial God, without doing theological gymnastics or dismissing parts of Scripture.
You can hear how deeply personal this book is to Boyd. There are moments when his voice cracks with tears, and those moments are piercing. I was in tears, too, at the end of it. I'm drying my eyes as I write this review.
The best, most reader-(or listener)-friendly work on apologetics I've come across, and a profoundly beautiful tribute to his father.

    "Reading One's Personal Mail"

The foundation is set with an understanding that we are reading the unedited personal exchange between father and son.
Such is the case as we read epistles in the Bible.
It is profound to see the gradual change as truth is revealed. It also reveals one's path of realizing that Ed has transformed from 'self' first to God first. A wonderful book with much information to help us with our own understanding of theological issues.

"A beautiful narrative of the journey to salvation"

Though I must admit I have a couple of big issues with Greg Boyd's theology, this story of redemption makes that easy to overlook. An incredible, respectful and loving conversation between two men who disagree. So important for engaging with others about anything and most especially things of eternal value. Highly recommend it.

I have been a Christian my whole life and I learned more through listening to this book than I've learned in years attending church. Gregory Boyd does an excellent job explaining what Christians believe and why. Give this book a listen!
