About this listen

"Relativity: The Special and the General Theory" is a seminal work by Albert Einstein, first published in 1916, designed to explain the groundbreaking theories that reshaped our understanding of the universe. In this accessible text, Einstein introduces listeners to the Special Theory of Relativity, which addresses the relationship between space and time, and the General Theory of Relativity, which expands these concepts to include gravity as the curvature of space-time caused by mass and energy.

Written for the layperson, Einstein employs clear language and thought experiments to elucidate complex ideas such as time dilation, length contraction, and the equivalence principle, making this book a cornerstone of modern physics and a must for anyone interested in the fundamental nature of reality.

The narrators unscientific and mathematical understanding of the subject is so lacking as to make the subject unlistenable! x subscript one is not "x to the first", but "x one". Similarly x superscript 2 is not "x to the second", but "x squared". Combining the two together in the same paragraph, or even the same sentence leads the listener to have to perform a feature of mental gymnastics such that the meaning of the text becomes lost in trying understand what the narrator is trying to communicate. Please, please, please employ narrators who are at least familiar with mathematical and physical notation, and are able to stay consistent in their speech. This has made listening to this book incredibly annoying, detracting from a pleasurable and educational experience! By the way, it is not just this audio-book at fault.
