About this listen
Fans of Children of Blood and Bone will love the sequel to Blood Heir. The second book in an epic fantasy series about a princess hiding a dark secret and the con man she must trust to liberate her empire from a dark reign.
Ana Mikhailov is the only surviving member of the royal family of Cyrilia. She has no army, no title, and no allies, and now she must find a way to take back the throne or risk the brutal retribution of the empress.
Morganya is determined to establish a new world order on the spilled blood of non-Affinites. Ana is certain that Morganya won't stop until she kills them all.
Ana's only chance at navigating the dangerous world of her homeland means partnering with Ramson Quicktongue again. But the cunning crime lord has schemes of his own. For Ana to find an army, they must cross the Whitewaves to the impenetrable stone forts of Bregon. Only, no one can be certain what they will find there.
A dark power has risen. Will revolution bring peace – or will it only paint the streets in more blood?
©2021 Amélie Wen Zhao (P)2021 HarperCollins Publishers LimitedI love the main characters and even more love the fact that the author keeps true to the character. They do develop, but never looses them self in the character development and I ADORE and LOVE that!
It makes it so believable.
The book had me in a choke hold from start to finish just like the last and was again able to surprise me on multiple occasions, which is rare, since I normally have things figured way before they are revealed.
It is also amazing how the author can switch my point of view on a character so many times. I genuinely hated Ramson in the first half of the first book. As in genuinely and deeply hated!
I had the same feelings towards another character in this book and my feelings towards that character switched multiple times.
Then there are those you just hate through and through. Like Kirland, for example. But all characters have depth and are multi-faceted, no one is black and white, there are reasons as to why they are what they are and do as they do.
I simply love that!
This is how you do writing, character writing, character development and world building right.
I'm so in love with this series and I truly can't wait to read the next book, even though I'm terrified about it, too. Because that'll mean it's over and the series is concluded and I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet.
Love, love, love this book!
