I appreciated how he has utilised his own life as examples of the the concept to which he's discussing which necessarily becomes a little autobiographical but I quite like that and have no issues with the application of theory to his life. It makes it interesting.
The difficulty comes, however in that the ideas and concepts he talks about are really very well established already and so anyone with a passing interest in Psychology will already have a solid understanding. This means that there's nothing new or unique so it feels a little like a recycling of things you'll have already heard of. For example, key advice includes how to active listen, how to try and maintain people's attention, self-affirmations, positive thinking and things like that. There is a large chunk devoted to negotiation and the takeaway is that when negotiating a deal, to go in high (or low if purchasing v selling) so that you can end up with the value you wanted. It's the kind of advice that's been around for many years. I think he mentions the Stanford Prison Experiment at one point, despite the more recent research offering some convincing counter positioning.
That said, it IS nice to hear the old concepts framed with application to his own life and he narrates it well.
